Montreal's top-end talent is very 2nd line (except for TT ) - NewYorkNuck
zero points and -5 vs TB in the finals to TT.
Teams highest scorer Suzuki has 15 points in 20 games. That is never going to get it done in the playoffs. |

Swing and a miss.
Good for Montreal, no one wants to get swept. That 4 minute kill was huge |

Strike 1.
I must be a good luck charm. I haven't seen a game yet, then I get to see tonight's game and they win. |

Maybe it's a dose of reality? Lowering expectations so that the crash isn't as big?
I mean we had people calling us a playoff team 3, 4, 5 years ago when we'd start out hot in October......calling out others for saying the team wasn't good.
Let's get something straight. Nobody, and I mean nobody comes and posts on this hockey forum without being a real fan. You actually have to be doing some fairly decent hockey searches to even find this place. (or at least you used to)
I remember when Marwood was pretty excited about the team, and others weren't. It doesn't mean any of them are trolls or not, it just means they have different expectations at different times.
Let me ask you a legit question. Is Marwood all that wrong considering the success of the team in the past 6+ years? Is he supposed to shower everyone with glee in order to stay positive? I personally don't think so, call a spade a spade. - golfingsince
No Marwood is not wrong given the disappointment of those years. No showers of glee either.
These boards not enough time to describe everything. My takes are a lot of devils advocate if it gets too sour or repetitious in here.
If it’s about results then there is very little to be excited about. Now there is some good stuff to latch onto & an optimist would be genuine in saying that. I’ll go into realistic mode & add still missing very key parts especially on D & tooling the bottom 6. Outlook is at least 3-4yrs from full stride in the window. |

Could be an injury. Stat wise the drop is pretty drastic. There has to be something that made it fall off. I haven't seen him in the Liiga against men. But whatever, he's always caught my eye when I've watched him with Finland. - Load Management
For me he’s a curiosity & I wonder if he hit a wall & just a part of growing up. Imo he could be a trade down target for the right deal if JB et al see a hidden gem. |

I'm cautiously optimistic this year with Shaw getting added to the staff for the team to improve, but until the results actually start to coming in, this team has been very bad aside from one run (built on the back of head-standing goaltending) in JBs term as GM. - NewYorkNuck
I like this post 👍
My take is time to see the goods & that being an uptick on results & an identity to go with it.

May have fried a few too many brain cells over the long weekend. I still like both players though. |

Frying is good lol
Stared & read so many prospect links & mock drafts of late I like many possibles for varying reasons.
Trying to dial into how JB could be aggressive. Considering the chips he has & options available cannot predict with any conviction. What I feel certain about is JV adios. Fans will be mildly surprised & happy about rfa contracts. |

Anyone see this rumour of Boeser and Schmidt for Kaprizov and Dumba? Seems legit |

That backhand sauce by Suzuki was a thing of beauty and Anderson was channeling is prime Jason Spezza tonight.
Just watched the highlights.
Not that I want the Habs to win, or really care who does, but love the drama. The mayor of Tampa wanted the Habs to win so the Bolts could win the cup on home ice in game 5. Now I want Price to be out of his mind and poop them out, sending it back to Montreal for game 6 |

He can be aggressive by trading draft picks and signing ufas and backing himself further into a corner which is exactly what he will do. He does every year. I wouldn't expect a diff outcome now |

For chuckles & giggles JB’s report card…
Drafting B+
Contracts B
UFA’s E
Trading C
Overall C
My expectations: B
To make the GM honour roll…
Fix the D 1st.
Don’t spend on UFA F’s but do find value for short term placeholders.
Time the farm pipeline gets results. |

Just go watch the 2 min highlight pack, it’s all you really need. Like watching the trailer for any of the Fast & Furious movies, don’t need to see the film after that |

Thats fair.
I'd bump the drafting and trading up a grade and go with an overall grade of B. Also, Ferland and Roussel injuries made those signings look worse than they ere, ditto with Juolevi's injuries and passing on Tkachuk. Just some typical Canuck bad luck there

I've just started checking them out for some of the guys. There's such a spread in some of the rankings. Not a lot of recent hockey to judge. The good news we're not in desperate need of a Goalie. I'm just not sold on Wallstedt being worthy of a top 15 pick. |
