Value is a hard thing to predict because it means different things to different GM's, depends on what their needs are.

I like Colton Sissons game as a third line center, he's only 27 years old, no not because he's from BC, and I like Mattias Elkholm from Nashville as well. They're apparently looking to shed some salary and both are bigger guys who can skate and defend fairly well.

I can't see a team, that is trying to shed salary, make a downgrade on defense, by trading Ekholm for Schmidt, who is twice the salary.

I like the beginning of the article where he says that his opinion really doesn't matter much.

In an extremely selfish ego way, I feel very validated reading the quotes because it's a lot of how I feel about the prospects and most of the quotes reflect in my rankings and how I feel about the draft.

What do you think a return would be for him?
- Reubenkincade

On any less poopty team, Schmidt is a 2nd pairing defender, who if you needed and paired with someone better could probably hold his own against other teams top lines. What would you pay to get that?

Two things, Elkholm is a year older than Schmidt and he's only signed for one more year. Schmidt is signed for four more years. So Nate gives them some cost certainty and you'd probably have to throw in an asset, not sure, just spit-balling.

Exposing Myers is a no brainer. Seattle are not taking him.

Two left side guys I would take a run at are Chiarot for toughness and Gavrikov

For the right side I would try to flip Foote for Rathbone.

This might be unpopular but I would ask Minny about Fiala /Greenway for Boeser

I would ask the Caps if they would do Oshie for Mikey D Juolevi and Myers.

- VANTEL

I would try Woo for Foote, TB are not in a position of strength for Foote.
I wouldn't do Boeser to Minny unless it was Fiala and Dumba and they take Roussell or LE.
I would try for Garland or Reinhart over Oshie.

This has Jim Benning written all over it...

Kent Johnson, C, Michigan-Big Ten: Johnson is a potential top-10 pick who is known as an elite skill type and was BCHL MVP two seasons ago.

“There is a lot of skill and creativity in his game with good instincts. His projection … would worry me due to his skating and the fact he is a perimeter player.”

“I worry he has trouble connecting the dots. He looks flashy but doesn’t always accomplish a lot.”

“When you talk pure skill, he’s right at the top of the draft. He will be a weapon that will be a big part of an NHL team’s offense, on the wing likely.”

“He’s got all the skill in the world, but for the price you’re going to need to pay for him, top 10 maybe even top eight, you’d like to get more quickness at that range.”

“This guy has special skill, he has the potential to be a leading scorer in the league. If he gets outside the top five someone is getting a steal.”

Nashville is in a tough spot. Shouldn't be giving assets up for Seattle to take someone but they want a change.

Seattle is taking everyone's high cap hit, they will need 150 million in cap, good thing they can just LTIR players.

They need a new GM, their's has never won anything in almost 30 years as a general manager, team wise that is. Time for them to do a "do-over".

He's 4oa in my rankings. I don't know how you don't draft that kind of skill top 5. He's a PPG in the NCAA as a draft eligible player which is rarely done.

There's room for improvement in his body, which is easily accomplished over time which will add to his strength and speed.

Everything screams the same as Petey, "if he was 15 lbs heavier, he goes 1st overall."

I think they'll want to be competitive, Ryan Johansen is still a good player in the league and he's not old at 28 years old. I predict they'll take on at least four high salaries during the expansion draft.

Poile has had some success over the years and the team is just doing what most teams do. Go in cycles of success and sucking but with one GM and not many.

I am not even sure this year we will be drafting at #9

The funny thing is a month ago Johnson was the next Elias Pettersson and this month he is a do not touch . Does anyone really know anything about these players?

I have seen Lucius ranked from 9 th to the third round.

I have seen Luke Hughes ranked as high as #2 to do not draft this player.

It really sounds like one big guessing game.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him trade their first rounder away to be more competitive, quicker. That said, Johnson played 26 games for Michigan in NCAA Div I this year, of course they know things about him?

I don't mind Johansen, and I think you might be right about Seattle taking on 4 high salaried players, but only ones that can play, so I doubt you see a cap-dump, like Loui, unless a boatload of picks/prospects are added.

I think teams will draft for need and you're going to see some surprises in the top ten with who's drafted where.

Agree, I don't think you'll see them take on a bloated salary guy even for one year, even if they get a great asset for it. But what the hell do I know

I see Reinhart's name thrown out there quite a bit but I would like to see if there are better options.
