I think teams will draft for need and you're going to see some surprises in the top ten with who's drafted where.
- LeftCoaster

After what they are calling the consensus top 9 in this draft, all over the map. A lot of people outside the nhl circle are very split on drafting the high floor vs the high ceiling from 10-31. Normally I would say in the draft that seems to start closer to the 20-25 range of the draft.

Like you said teams teams drafting for need is probably correct. Teams like Anaheim, Detroit, LA have been drafting heavily in certain areas for a couple years now and in this draft, there are positional players that I don't think they would have a problem reaching for a bit to fill a need in the organization.

Anaheim for examples drafted smaller, speeder, offensive Drysdale. Wouldn't it be smart to pair with with a larger, more two way responsible Edvinsson.

Detroit picked up there two way RHD two seasons ago with size and are probably looking for a PP QB which Hughes is a very good fit but they also could use a franchise goalie.

Thanks to less viewings this season than normally, will GM's go for the higher floor earlier than usual.

I see Reinhart's name thrown out there quite a bit but I would like to see if there are better options.
- VANTEL

I like his production but he's a soft, slower, special teams player, depends on whether or not Benning thinks they can win in the next three years or not. Reinhart's never been a plus player in the league, although that's a challenge playing for Buffalo.

Seattle announces Paul McFarland and Jay Leach as Hakstol's assistants. Hakstol and McFarland were both assistant coaches with TOR.

Seattle going the TML route. Maybe we will see Morgan Reilly as the top Dman of the Kraken.

Much like every other year, the draft isn't an exact science, as you know. It's a crapshoot most years, outside of the top five, and even worse this year with SOME players not playing at all, some playing a bit, and others only missing about ten games of a full season.

Problem with Reinhart is Van has a lot of his type of player already really. They need players with different attributes in their top 9 than him, more than they need him.

I think he's only got one year left and then becomes a UFA. I wonder if he'll take advantage of it and get out of Toronto?

He would be a good piece for them to acquire. I think he would re-sign there too being two hours away from home. Good franchise piece can get a good contracts the following year.

The not playing at all hurts and most did play but didn't have a playoffs.

For me, it's not always about the largest sample size. A 17 year old kid have all the same problems whether they play 20 or 60 games seasons. Should be able to see all of the players attributes within 20 games I would hope. Consistency is something that plagues 90% of the kids drafted.

You know, everyone who you use as an avatar gets traded away, can you put one up of Loui Eriksson?

You think the Canucks will protect Highmore or Motte?

I would go Motte.

Probably not even close for me either.

Like 99% for Motte to protect over Highmore

Motte. Who the hell would take Highmore with a career high of 6 points in a season?

- NewYorkNuck

15 points in 91 career games is pretty sad.

Motte has 47 points in 211 games. Brings more speed, more physicality, good on the PK.

Highmore shot 15% playing with Van last year, that is going to regress quite a bit to his avg of around 5%

Benning....I'm just guessing what he'd do. He gave up Gaudette for him and Highmore is two years younger than Motte and he's slightly bigger. My best guess on what they'd do.

Maybe he just wanted the Covid ground zero guy as far away as possible and would have traded him for shoe laces.

That is my guess.

Seattle isn't taking either one IMO so really it's a moot point.

Perhaps...Benning doesn't like to look like an idiot though, so he tries to "save face" on some of his dealings.

I heard a lot of people were pissed at Gauds and Canucks acted quickly. I don't think it was anything other than get this dumb f*ck away from me.

Zack MacEwen or Braden Holtby....that's my guess. Motte makes sense as well though, good bottom six guy.
