Players play injured in the playoffs all the time. Martinez played on a broken foot. Their replacement players aren't as good as them being injured I guess. But the regular season is different. I imagine the league needs proof that a player is actually injured before allowing the team to place them on LTIR. It's not just an arbitrary reserve where players go when GMs want to save cap space.

If there is a will there is a way. Oh and yeah players play hurt all the time in regular season. Not being 100% is a common reference. So going on LTIR is not so hard as so many NHL teams have shown. Decisions on what's best for the team are typical.

For the sake of furthering the discussion, sure. I also think he may have another growth spurt in him. Like 4 inches in height and another 40 pounds.
- Load Management

I think that just because a team sucks doesn't mean that an individual will automatically be as bad as the team.

Without looking at the standings of the Ettan this season.

u18 players Mailloux is -7 more than the next player. Even though he had a ppg of .68 more than him.

Mailloux is an offensive defensemen with size. I don't have any problem drafting him 4th round and beyond.

I think we should sign everyone in the league and put them all on LTIR and just roll with the hot hands.

Not excuses purely perspective…

No training camp.
-difficult to implement structure
New players.
-difficult to gel outta the gate
Both of the above apply to all teams with some being together longer & a smoother go of it.

Call last year a write off with higher expectations for next season without the above circumstances.

Brilliant in two ways:

1) the Canucks get so many good players, easily just pulling them off LTIR and then putting them back on
2) other teams get no players, and can't ice a good roster, and the Canucks will win the cup

LTIR is just this year’s MTA.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

How many contracts do they currently have? I’d bet they are no where near close to the limit. And Benning has never, not once, signed guys who he then turned into something better. So I’ll kindly tell you to take your theories and go frank yourself.

Why are MTA's being put aside and forgotten?

Even better: sign and LTIR the players on very back-loaded contracts, then MTA the ones who aren't pulling their weight right before the playoffs so teams can't get them on their rosters, and the rest right after the Cup. Aqua saves a bunch of money and everyone is happy.

What new structure were the majority of the guys learning? The same one that TG/Brown/Baumer have had them playing the past few years?

Sure, if you want to make it as cut and dried as that. His stats are pretty middle of the road compared to his teammates. Most of whom probably didn't travel overseas from Ontario to get a semblance of a season in. Most also over 17.

In my eyes, when your team is giving up almost 5 a night, being a plus player is impossible after a certain threshold of games. The fact that he's only -7 behind the next U 18 player is actually pretty impressive given the circumstances.

On another topic…

If I got my wish NB & Baumer were gone the replacements woulda had no time to implement anything. Maybe saved NB his job for a year. Coulda had nobody replace Baumer as the results turned out.

OJ played the system in Utica, Hawryluk barely played, Holtby is a goalie so structure isn't the same.

So sure, 3 guys. If the rest of the team looked dynamite without them in, I'd give it to you. The team just sucked. Why is that hard to realize? Why are there external things that only effected the Canucks? You even stated all the other teams were dealt the same hand.. the Canucks just played it poorly.

Yup.
And before I'm asked, the solution is to replace the GM (and the entire pro scouting dept.) and the coach.
