McDonagh is better than most #1D in the league.

I do hope Tampa can keep most of these guys together. They are so good, its fun to watch.

Jeff Skinner is a $9 million cap hit for 6 more years.

I don't know what Couturier will get next summer. Depends on how he plays.

If he collapses like Wayne Simmonds did at the end of his contract, then nothing. But if he has another good season.....will he be looking at a Skinner type of cap hit?

- Captain_Ahab

No indication he will collapse. Very consistent player.

Around 8 m AAV would be my guess.

Chock-full was hyperbole, but 3 of their top picks last year were Swedes, and given their Swedish history, and the fact that some of their top prospects chose to play in the SHL this year, my larger point of a Swedish focus by Wings was valid.

- PT21

It was simply incorrect. Can you provide documentation of this perceived Swedish history?

Why did TB acquire McDonagh when they have Hedman? You claim that the Avs won't want Jones because they have Makar.

You think Coots is going to get 11.5 aav for 8 years?

So he was in/near the hot tub, got shot w/ a mortar in the chest, then fell and cracked his head open?

We really need to find a better way to celebrate July 4.

- Tomahawk

I don’t know where you celebrate Independence Day but where I’m from we don’t shoot fireworks at or near people.

I read somewhere recently that Vasilevsky gives up an unusually high % of long range shots for a goalie of his caliber.

Speaking of "tanking."

Look at the position Detroit is in.

They basically have a clean slate.

The longest contract they have is just 2 years.

Biggest cap hit is $6.1 million.

And the no. 6 pick in the draft.

Interesting position to be in.

It's a good position to be in when performing a full rebuild. It's going to be a rough few years for them but I think they'll come out better than if they did a half rebuild like the Flyers.

Hope so. I hate it when a team runs out of answers and starts taking premeditated headhunting type hits at opposing star players.

8.5 x6 I wouldn’t have a problem with. Unfortunately, I don’t see Coots going for that. This is going to be the monster deal that he gets in his career.

My concern is that I could see the Flyers settle on 9.5+ for 7 or 8

I want him as a Flyer. I think he’s a great player for the kids to learn from. I hope he stays. I just am a little iffy on a mega contract.

Who did he hire as a new agent? As that will play a part as well.

Bill what goalies do you think they look at? Do you think it will be via trade or free agency? How much do you see them allocating for the other goalie spot.

Honestly I'm not even that mad about the Flyers not winning a cup in over 40 years. Obviously I would love to see a parade come to Philly, but I'm more frustrated and mad that there is no passion for winning for at least the last decade. Sure every player blabs the words that they don't like it, but their actions say it all.

I just want to be proud of the team, even when they lose, knowing they at least gave it their all, but the other team was just better that night. I'm just tired of being embarrassed by their play year after year.

A player of his caliber will have his choice of high profile agents.
