Not hoping. But sounds like that’s what Anaheim is hoping. I would not like such things….

Why are people giving away eichel today for free? - Sabretooth9
That's not the final package that is where it starts

So I know lots here seem pretty convinced Eichel is gone
If the keep him, either because they asked for too much or were not trading him anyways, would this have been the best chance to trade him?
I believe his clauses kick in next year so he has the power to decide where he is traded to which could limit the return, still will get a very good return but with him deciding that hurts the potential return or would you just keep him and hope he doesn't bring the team down if he isn't being a team player?
This is assuming he is healthy - dmarsden2988
They could move him early next off-season, before the NMC kicks in. Big risk to bring him back when he clearly doesn't want to be here. If he misses much time or doesn't put up strong numbers, it would make things even more difficult than they are now.
I think they are going to take the best offer they can get before the draft.

I think it'd be cool to have the trade on draft day right at the 3rd pick.
Never really see many trades at draft and deffs not the size like this one has the potential to be. |

Between Eichel and Reinhart getting traded or our #1 pick you are getting a center there. I agree.
You either get the center in a trade or get a defenseman in the trades and then taking Beniers at number 1 - Fattony1187
The bold is the crux of my disagreement, as it's not either for me, it's both as I'm looking for 2 Centers, not one. |

So, reportedly, most teams agree with the Sabres on Eichel's rehab (no surgery). Interesting. |

I don't think there would be a lot of teams that would be okay with doing a surgery on their franchise center that has never been done on a professional hockey player before. |

Doesn’t surprise me. Why trade all that capital just to risk it on an unproven surgery

Sure, But does this change your mind:
Zegras, Power, Eklund
OR
Drysdale, Benier, Eklund
Both would look really good to me, and if that's the case I'm down - SDSabre
I'd by far prefer this to either of the above:
Zegras, Beniers, Eklund |

Couldn't that be considered tampering if they are talking about Eichel when not on their team?
It's even gray area if they talk about that surgery when everyone can put the dots together and see who they are talking about without naming who it is |

It's not tampering if they get permission to speak to Jack and or his agent
Also could be leaked by the Sabres that other teams are agreeing with them and their doctors.
Basically it is all a game |

That's why no one is doing it publicly.

Plot twist. Eichel's camp and the Union sue the league for collusion.

To each their own. Our defensive depth and star power at the position isn't nearly as flush as some believe, in my opinion. Always good to restock everything as opposed to doing one thing at a time imo. |

Or Buffalo leaks this info, so in the court of public opinion they aren't the bad guys with Eichel, but actually are in line, and being very "reasonable" just like most teams would do |

Compromise. Here's a conditional 6th rounder. GFYS (Ducks, not you Hank) - SDSabre
Here's a counter to the Ducks conditional pick request
Ducks get a 2nd in 2023 if he doesn't have an 80 point season in the next two years. If he does, Sabres get the Ducks 2023 2nd instead
(In addition to the actual trade package)
If the Ducks are really worried about his health, they take the deal.
My guess is they decline which ends the conditional pick talk |

He wouldn't get very far on that.
If anything they would go to medical arbitration first

Power, Zegras, Eklund would be a good haul for Buffalo this off season. Plus, whatever they get back in a trade for skunk |

Yes, and if things weren't progressing, Eichel's camp would have went to Arbitration already. |

Indeed. If it would be Drysdale, Benny, and Eklund I could live with that too. Preference to the above though, although it sounds like Ana is balking at the idea of that. |
