Power, Zegras, Eklund would be a good haul for Buffalo this off season. Plus, whatever they get back in a trade for skunk - Michael Pachla
So would Bernier Drysdale/Comtois Eklund Mclaughlin/Perreault and 8 or 12 maybe Turcotte Zary |

To each their own. Our defensive depth and star power at the position isn't nearly as flush as some believe, in my opinion. Always good to restock everything as opposed to doing one thing at a time imo. - SDSabre
They've been bereft of talent at the forward position for years. I'm looking to address that, especially at Center, along with finding a goaltending solution as my two main areas of focus. |

He wouldn't get very far on that.
If anything they would go to medical arbitration first - Stripes77
There's probably some grounds for a legal challenge, but that would take years to play out.

Indeed. If it would be Drysdale, Benny, and Eklund I could live with that too. Preference to the above though, although it sounds like Ana is balking at the idea of that. - SDSabre
Am of the opinion that Power and Eklund are the two best players in the draft with the winger having an exciting amount of upside. Got nuthin against Berniers but I think he along with Hughes and Guenther make up the second tier |

And that's fair, not knocking your line of thinking. I just look at it they drafted 5 forwards last year, have a couple of Botts picks at forwards starting to make the shift over to pro hockey, and still 2/3 of those assets are forwards. I would agree for sure had Quinn and Peterka not been selected last year, but I think we can live with having one of the next wave also be defense. |

We are thinking alike here. I tend to agree, Beniers will be solid, but he's kinda a jack of all trades, master of none which will him an NHL player for a long time, but how impactful remains to be seen. Eklund will be exciting to watch imo. |

So, reportedly, most teams agree with the Sabres on Eichel's rehab (no surgery). Interesting. - RhinoFan
My opinion is that Eichel doesn’t really care a little the surgery. He just wants to leave. This is “wedge” to drive between him and the sabres. |

They've got to get one top-2 prospect back: zegras/drysdale...byfield/kaiylev/turcotte...
rossi/boldy...lafreniere/lundqvist |

Power will be solid as well. - Michael Pachla
My question is:
Is Drysdale going to be that much better than Power as Zegras will be over Berniers? |

From a pure skill perspective, I think Drysdale will surpass him. It's kinda interesting when you balance them out going Drysdale/Berniers and Power/Zegras |

Both would be great duos imo. Drysdale being a RHD is a nice little perk as well. |

Seems like both of those comparisons could easily go either way.

Now what if you go Zegras and 3...and trade 1 for an established stud and take Eklund at 3? |

I believe this. Jack would have opted for medical arbitration by now. Is the injury as bad as it seems. Or is it being used as the wedge to drive him out of town? |

He could have also been told not to go this route by the players association/agent because if it doesn't go his way then his new team has all the leverage as well

Zegras, 3OA and one of Comtois/Drysdale sounds about right to me. - SoCalPucks People are going to be very disappointed if this is their expected return

I agree
However there is a deal with the Ducks that could work for both teams

Where is Gerbe to tell us everything will be ok and teams value our players more than we do! |

[quote=TheSabresTaco]he would be a pending UFA, he is still under contract with the sabres during the expansion draft.

Here's a counter to the Ducks conditional pick request
Ducks get a 2nd in 2023 if he doesn't have an 80 point season in the next two years. If he does, Sabres get the Ducks 2023 2nd instead
(In addition to the actual trade package)
If the Ducks are really worried about his health, they take the deal.
My guess is they decline which ends the conditional pick talk - Hank Balling
How about
2022 3rd if Eichel plays less than 20 games next year.
2023 2nd if he plays less than 20 games in 2023.
Meets the requirements. |
