Another thing that they mentioned on Overdrive was how odd it was at the end of the year that Dubas immediately came out and said they would not trade the big 4. It was like within 24hrs of the season ending.

Why the hurry? The season just ends in that fashion and you defend ‘the 4’ and the top-heavy construction of the Leafs? You wouldn’t take a week to examine everything?

Sounds like the new ‘Muskoka 5’ to me. Handed big contracts and can do no wrong...

Maybe someone like Dubas needs to publically criticize these shlubs? Or are they as fragile off the ice as they are on the ice?

- Hockey_Reverend

Can’t criticize, they’re afraid of the guys who make 5 - 6 times more money then them.

They quit on Babs, they pretty much run the asylum now.

We’ll see... but does anyone feel any significant change will happen this offseason? Time will tell I guess, but I doubt it.
- Hockey_Reverend

no idea, its possible since there is a lot of big names out there that look like they will be moved.

Id move Rielly first.

And they should have quit on him, the question is why did Marner quit again.

I agree, move on from Rielly. And try to trade Marner for someone like Jones... Roster needs balance.

And unfortunately the refs have a major role in deciding games.

Soft, scared little boy. Is how he played. Looked like he was one of the players kids out there.

That’s why Maroon was the leading scorer in the playoffs

We didn’t lose because of the officiating. We had plenty of PP chances and the refs didnt force our players to get scared and throw the puck over the glass. That’s just LEafy.

That's where you're wrong, if the refs call the penalties then the Leafs don't get gooned 4 times a shift and can actually you know go play hockey.

So Matthews missed the net cause he was scared? Hyman couldn’t get the puck past Price cause he was scared? Four guys other than Marner got delay if game penalties. They were all scared?

As do umpires and refs in other sports.

In hockey officiating, the issue is a little more complex than poor calls but some refs are better than others. What I find unacceptable is the gameplan discussed by the league and the officiating crew, prior to the season and the playoffs. Something along the lines that we are going to call any stickwork around the hands. (call it the the Marc Methot rule) or flipping the puck over the glass or any headshots. The issue is how much leeway is given for other calls that are not in the discussed league gameplan but are clearly in the rulebook. I am curious how many slewfoot calls were made last season - I saw a dozen or more, it's an automatic 5 and a game so it's a rare call. How about attempting to hurt another player, you take out a guy's knee and you get 2 minutes while he needs surgery and is out for 2 to 4 months.

You know, I just don't remember him playing like that previously.
If he does it again he should be gone, he should be gone now but that won't happen.

LOL. Don’t get discouraged by the constant Dubas/ Marner/ Rielly/ Andersen/ whoever defenders on here. Most normal hockey fans realize what the problems with this team are.

1. Inexperienced NHL GM
2. Huge contracts to Players before they have Won Anything Establishing a Culture of Entitlement
3. Poor Roster Balance/Construction
4. Soft Team Unwilling to Play Playoff Style hockey
5. Questionable Coaching Staff (again lack of winning and NHL experience here)

Should I go on?? Lol

Rielly told my brother's neighbour's barber's cousin he wants $1M X 8 years.

Says growing up in Vancouver, he dreamed of playing for the Maple Leafs.

And yet they still are at the helm? There is not the same level of anger as if this was the Yankees, or EVEN the Habs or Bruins...

You need to look back at the yankees hiring/firing history. It's not a yo-yo like you or Hayes suggest.

Mathews didn't miss the net 35 times, I'd say he did his job.

This is what frightens me.

After Sunday's Euro2020 finals, it's golf, baseball, and Olympics in the middle of the night for the next eight weeks, until football starts up again.

FFS, I may have to talk to my family.
