Rielly told my brother's neighbour's barber's cousin he wants $1M X 8 years.

Says growing up in Vancouver, he dreamed of playing for the Maple Leafs.

- Atomic Wedgie

No he told my kid. He met him at a BBQ in Tofino last night. Obviously, he can just tell some fan from Toronto some positive spin and obviously team friendly in his mind might mean $7.5M. I’m just passing on my kid’s conversation with him.

For his production it's (frank)ing atrocious.

I agree, he's a good player, but term is an issue because of injury history.

We can only dream of a guy like that on Mathews wing.

I'm not even sure what # I would be happy with Rielly taking. 6 million x 8 years?

I have no idea what the right number is but Rielly was one of the best players during that series.

Rielly is a great player.

Unfortunately, we can't afford him anymore.

But who replaces him and all his minutes?

It would create a big hole on defense wouldn't it?

$6 would be ok, he would get more on the open market. When you look at comparables, he's not worth Hedman/Pietrangelo money. If he is signed at a good number fine, otherwise look elsewhere.

So Mathews doesn't even need line mates to score, we're all set then.

Krug only real comparable I can think of. He got 6.5 x 7 so 6 x 8 is a small discount.

I dont understand people criticizing Matthews. I thought he played well. Actually threw the body, chipped in a few. Sure, he hit a few posts but I thought he played well over all.

Hyman JUST came back from injury didn’t he? Considering that I thought he did okay...

And yes, many of our players are ‘scared’. In other words, they don’t like playing physical hockey! How can you construct a team like that and expect to win?

- Hockey_Reverend

You missed the point. I don’t buy the idea that players failed to produce because they were scared. Both Marner and Matthews failed to do what they were paid to do. I’m not going to attribute character flaws to Matthews for not reacting to being rag dolled or to Marner for putting the puck over the net.

Justin Holl obviously. You seen that mans corse? Basically a shorter, but better version of Victor Hedman.

Defense is an area that needs more attention. Rielly had a sub par season, if that translates into signing him at a good number, he's 27, you sign him. Don't cave but sign him, offer as much Canadian Tire money as required outside of the cap.

I'm a big fan of Sandin, he's not at Rielly's level yet but I don't hate the idea of betting on him.

Larsson would be a good addition. I hope the Habs consider him if we lose Chiarot to expansion.

Anderson Jenner and Savard 👍

- mr.sir

Well, we already have got our Anderson.

Apparently, he's modelled his game after Zach "Soon to be gonzo" Hyman!

And we've got him for $750k for the next 2 years.

(disclaimer: sure, he's only got one game under his belt with the Buds. So? What's your point? Why so skeptical? Go away!)

We don't need a Josh Anderson type playing with AM34.

It'd be fun to having a crash line though with speed, I'll give you that. (but I'm not paying 5.5M for a power forward that doesn't score all that much)

The coaching was horrible. Your best players are being mugged and you do nothing about it. No line matching, no cross-check the opponent's best players, just the laissez faire approach.

I’d rather have Rielly for the year than picks. We’d be using the asset for the full length of his contract.
