In my day, "power forward" meant scoring.

Shanny

Nolan

LeClair

These kids today, with their newfangled ideas and electronic ipoditty-doos...

- Atomic Wedgie

Those types of players were as rare back in the day as they are now.

How many guys in the league fit that model? Guys who can score 30-40 goals and get 100+ PIMS and hits?

Actually, I'm having trouble thinking of any.

I think it's pretty stupid of you to suggest that Dubas would be spending much time on Hockeybuzz.

He's more of a TikTok guy.

Scored 27 last full season and was on pace for it again this year ( same as Nylander )on poop teams.

Kerfoot makes 3.5 what do you think Anderson is worth?

- Garnie

Anderson's production fell off the truck in the regular season. He scored 6 goals and had 2 assists in the last half of the season.

I think his 27 goal campaign was more an aberration than anything.

He ain't worth 5.5M. I think the idea that he's some kind of scoring power forward is largely fantasy.

Also, I think Kerfoot is overpaid.

Iโ€™d rather have Rielly for the year than picks. Weโ€™d be using the asset for the full length of his contract.

I'd rather have the assets.

Why ignore his first half?

He was incredible the first half, then (like the rest of the team) his production dropped a cliff.

Wouldn't considering both be more fair to the player, which implies he's a guy that can score 25 goals a year while bringing physical play?

Anyway it feels this horse has been beaten to death, brought back to life and beaten down again. We'll just have to see how he does next year.

True Wedgie story:

About 25 years ago, a had a few friends who worked at XYZ Corporation. They would always invite me to participate in their sports pools. They weren't official "XYZ Co. pools" - but invitations were allowed to go out via the company email distribution lists, so you got a lot of suckers who knew nothing about sports who would play.

I believe the term is "dead money."

Anyhoo, one year the hockey format was like this:

You had to take one player from every team in the league (I can't remember how many teams there were at the time).

X number of forwards: 1 point = 1 point
X number of defence: 1 point = 1 point
2 goalies: iirc, 1 win = 1 point, 1 shutout = 5 points

And the kicker:

1 goon: 1 point = 1 point, 10 PIM = 1 point.

So all of the dead money were selecting goons like Domi, Probert, etc.

There were about 7 of us who realized that taking a power forward was the way to go - me and a few others took Shanny, and Nolan was also selected.

Well about a month in, everyone else realizes that the 7 guys who figured out the system will finish top 7. There were huge cries that it wasn't fair, they should get to re-pick.

Frank that noise.

I ended up winning the whole she-bang - I think I got about $1600.

Good times.

Today?

Wow, yeah, I can't really think of any.

The guy with the highest PIM in the top 20 in goals this year was Brad Marchand.

I don't think many would label him as a power forward.

Evander Kane?

Tom Wilson is about a 20 goal scorer.

It doesn't.

Otherwise a few around here would be powerforwards.

Being big, strong, fast as hell for you size, hitting hard and scoring goals makes you one.

Rotisserie pool - points for pims goals shots etc etc etc.

1st year Brashear gets drafted for $25/yr. ( every player is bid on )

Total team payroll was only $120 ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I think the guy only last 1 or 2 years in the pool.

Well, we already have got our Anderson.

Apparently, he's modelled his game after Zach "Soon to be gonzo" Hyman!

And we've got him for $750k for the next 2 years.

(disclaimer: sure, he's only got one game under his belt with the Buds. So? What's your point? Why so skeptical? Go away!)
