Out of those 3 who do you trade if we dont have the space - Hockeyislife
The Answer would be AB. If you had to pick out of the three. You other two have proven more valuable. |

I agree. In terms of this year if I had to lose one of Leddy or Eberle I pick losing Eberle. Wally can be a replacement. Bolduc might not be ready to make the jump this year. |

Sorokin 5.5 aav.
Pelech 6 to 8 aav
Beau 5 5 aav - Hockeyislife
I think your numbers are a lil high on all three.
Sorokin does not yet deserve over 5 million. I'll say 4 mil
Pelech 4.5 to 5 Mil
AB 3.5 Mil

I don't hate Leddy and would prefer to keep him. But unless Lou can pull a rabbit out of a hat, the Islanders are going to lose a good player in the expansion draft. Because of cap considerations, I suspect that Lou is likely to leave unprotected some decent, but well-paid players, like Leddy and Eberle. I'm thinking he will go the 7 - 3 route, so that he can protect the Identity Line among others. If he can only protect 3 D, then it has to be Pulock and Mayfield (our bargain-rate playoff warrior), and presumably a signed Pelech. So unfortunately Leddy is the odd man out. - JohnScammo
Yep, I agree with that. I'm just not sure he's as replaceable as some seem to think. He's not what I'd call an amazing defenseman, but he has a skill set that I don't think is replaceable with the Isles' current in-house options or with any of the projected signings I've seen in those "what next year's Isles could look like" pieces.
Losing Leddy and Toews in back-to-back years is subtracting a lot of speed and mobility from the D in a short amount of time. The cap situation is what it is, so I realize there hasn't been much choice...but, well, it kind of sucks anyway. |

It does. The only way to keep Leddy would be to go the 4 - 4 route which means you only get to protect 4 forwards. I don't see any way that could work for this Islander team.
Perhaps ironically, the expansion draft penalizes teams like the Islanders where the talent is fairly even distributed. A team with a lot of high end talent concentrated in a smaller number of players has a much easier time navigating the draft, because they can protect all their big talent. |

It's going to be quiet until the expansion draft could see a few signings or a buyout or a trade. After the expansion draft going to be insane |

Arizona has over 30 million in cap space. They definitely have the space to take Ladd from us before the expansion draft. See if this happens |

They will have to get to the cap floor everyone is gone plus they are losing a player to Seattle. They have to take on salary |

Pelech 4.5 to 5 Mil
AB 3.5 Mil - Nfdbulldawg
My predictions.. for what's it worth.. which isn't much.
I think Sorokin will only get 2 year deal around 3.5 ..
Pelech will get 5.5 for 5
Beau will get 5 for 5.
Greene will sign for league minimum with lots of bonus $$ again..
so that adds up to a total of $15 mill ish)
If they can create some cap room by moving or buying out players..
Casey will get 3 mill for 2 years..
Palmieri will get 5 for 3 years. ($8 mill ish)
we will lose Leddy or Ebs in the expansion draft. 5.5 mil
Have 6 mill in room now so that gets u to around 11.5 mill.
Hickey will be traded if possible or bought out.. adds 2.5 or 1.6
Leo will be traded or bought out.. Adds 3 mill or 1.7 mill
boychuk LTIR .. obviously.. 6 mill but have to waive guys before season starts first..
That adds up to about $ 22 to $23 mill in cap room .. which if u sign all above that is about what u need. |

I wouldn’t pay them more then a million each. If we do it’s a complete failure on Lameriello’s part. |

Ladd's salary is actually a lot less than his cap hit now. $1M base salary with $3M signing bonuses that are due this summer and next.
Still not holding my breath that anyone would take him, but if the Isles pay his $3M bonus this year then he's only owed $5M in total compensation over the next two seasons. |
