What's he going to do when they play the Penguins? - JimmyP
Inform the Ottawa front office where each of the Penguins players were born and what the consistency of their last bowel movement was, probably |

Ladd's salary is actually a lot less than his cap hit now. $1M base salary with $3M signing bonuses that are due this summer and next.
Still not holding my breath that anyone would take him, but if the Isles pay his $3M bonus this year then he's only owed $5M in total compensation over the next two seasons. - eichiefs9
Then it might make sense. It’d probably cost the Islanders something significant though. |

Yeah I dunno. I can't imagine anyone would really want him, but I guess I can still hold out some hope.
Staple mulled over three different hypothetical looks for the roster next year and had mentioned something along the lines of Ladd/Bellows to ARI for future considerations, aka nothing
I'm not sure that'd be enough, but who knows. |

The Oilers have traded Caleb Jones and a third round in exchange for Duncan Keith. No word yet on any salary being retained |

I think the Oilers would benefit from an Andrew Ladd-type player. Hmmm.... |

Seems kind of odd. Unless they are looking for picks or an exempt player they would have to protect any incoming player. |

Right, but getting picks or exempt players is still better than losing Leddy for nothing. |

100%. Somebody is going. Either eberle, Leddy, or Bailey imo. He’ll also do everything in his power to jettison Ladd of course. Lou will go all in next season again. |

I think the point is that they're probably going to sacrifice Leddy to Seattle if they can't move him, so they may as well try and see if they can recoup a 3rd round pick or something in a trade. They're moving him for cap space, not another body. |

Reinhart deal is the worse of the two for sure.
But yeah. What in the literal (frank) is Holland thinking? |

If Lou calls up Holland, I’m sure he can get a 2nd and Broberg. |

Has Keith declined that much? I haven't paid that much attention to the rest of the league in recent years.

He’ll probably rebound some with the Oil. Fewer minutes and better partners.
But Chicago needed to clear cap space. Trading for Keith is doing them a solid. So why give up Jones (who was the expected Seattle pick, and brother to the Jones that the Hawks have a serious hard on for) AND a pick? If anything, the Hawks should’ve been sending a better pick back to the Oilers. |

If Leddy is dealt, then you are losing someone else for nothing in the expansion draft. So if you are trading Leddy it better be a trade that can make up for losing 2 pieces of the current roster.
I'm thinking Lou wants to lose no one, if possible from this current roster's core let alone 2. Having Seattle take Ladd by throwing a sweetener like maybe Bellows and a pick their way is probably the best way to reduce our salary, keep the current roster together and not lose anyone significant to the teams success in the expansion draft. Just my opinion off course which is typically wrong. |
