Define superstar.
I would certainly be targeting a > 82 pt player for my 1C...would like closer to 90 pts - IonSabres
Who’s going go to give us this for someone who’s never accomplished this? |

I’m on board with this as long as they are long term solution assets and not the quick fix solutions that got us to where we are today - lulags
In my post that you originally responded to, I said I would pick Beniers and Eklund at 1 and 3, if they get 3 from Anaheim, as my 2 Centers. |

I’m leaning toward this. I don’t see any team giving up a potential franchise prospect + + for Eichel. Even if they are, I’m sure it would come with a massive dump of the Okposo or Moulson variety, which is what got us here. Not sure there is a legitimate Eichel trade out there this year, but I could be shocking wrong - lulags
Many/most way overrate prospects.
What are the realistic chances any of Zegras, Byfield, etc. become close to as good as Eichel? 5%? 10%? Feels like a remote chance, but so many act like it's a given, which is hilarious. |

still think ya gotta go power 1-overall...in trade scenarios with an additional pick coming back i'm looking for:
2. vegas--beniers
3. ana--eklund
5. clb--guenther
8. lak--wallstedt
9. van--sillinger
12. chi--lysell
13. cal--mcgirgensons
16. rags--raty
22. min--cossa |

Dylan Cozens will score the greatest goal in Sabres history.
If Eichel wants to play for Bruins and the Bruins want him, then we want Pasta. Keep it simple. Then trade #1 OA to Hawks for PK88. Loaded for bear. Get it effin crankin. |

I agree with you that the value is placed way too high on unproven, high level prospects. It’s a combination of over confident scouting and probably a bit of if they turn out to be better than what we got in return, I’ll lose my job |

I like where this is going, Cozens will have some epic Sabres moments for us to relish/scrutinize for years to come |

I would not go Powers at 1 as the Sabres are about to lose their 2 best forwards, and assuming neither of Zegras or Byfield are coming back in an Eichel deal. |

I really like Cossa, he would be nice at 22-24 range, but might be gone even by then. |

Well of course, what else do you do, give up?
I thought the question was in the context of defining what the desired return on the trade of 3 young players would bring. |

Yes and no. If your available prospects are all similarly ranked then there is nothing wrong with leaning towards the guy that fits your need.

But those needs change very quickly. None of these forwards are close to NHL ready. They won’t be making a serious NHL impact for 2-3 years
Remember when in the span of 3/4 weeks our depth forwards went from nobody competent to Asplund, Mittelstadt, Thompson, Bjork?
They need to draft who they think is the best prospect regardless of position |

Why the (frank) would Boston trade Pasternak for Eichel? You are not right in the head boy. |

I don't disagree with any of that. I just said that if you are short in the pipeline at a certain position and your grades are equal on whatever is on the board there is nothing wrong with using that as a tiebreaker. Going off the board for need is certainly a mistake.
Also, every organization thinks that it is better than everyone else at scouting.
