Well having multiple options is the smart thing. Just because a team wants someone doesn't mean they get them...I mean the player has to either want to sign there, a team has to be willing to trade them and the team has to accept the offer.
Risto Risto is just a contingency plan most likely.
Plus the only way to make a hockey trade is getting rid of someone the team/fans really don't want to, but that's how you get someone you need/want. Trading a bunch of unwanted garbage only gets you different garbage.
Also if the a team is run correctly, they should be able to part with players where they have depth and strength to acquire where they need help. No team will ever have 12 top 6 players. |

Trading Konecny does not make much sense.
Packaging him for a Top pairing D creates a big hole too especially if Vorchek or JVR gets selected by Seattle.
Konecny is more part of a solution than problem with this team. |

Putting him and Parayko together would make an massive first pair on defense plus if they can make the deal with the Ducks sending Tarasenko for Manson and Rikell that would really boost this team! |
