The Lightning were a fun villain to root against. They won, oh well. Gonna be real obnoxious hearing about cap stuff for the next decade or so because people can’t move on. |

Good to know that unless they can get him to take off another year so they can circumvent the cap, they are going to lose all of their UFA's and probably have to give a first round pick for some one to take Tyler Johnson! - stevens87
Remember when half the board wanted to actually give Tampa something for Tyler Johnson? |

Blueger needs a new contract and then Rust, McCann, and Kapanen all have expiring contracts next year and are due for raises. Unloading Zucker will help, but it seems like a lateral move to trade zucker just to sign Saad or Tatar.
This team appears to have the worst luck with injuries or just an awful training staff, but if this team is mostly healthy, I’m ok running the same roster as last year - drummer829
We're basically only worrying about next year at this point. They'll probably need to make significant subtractions after that.

RW wanted Tyler Johnson instead of Matheson
Personally, I'd still take Matheson. We might have had Johnson and not picked up Carter |

He must of been hitting on Ducharme's wife or something. It seemed crazy they weren't playing this guy. He lead them in scoring last season. With so many guys playing hurt there's no way he wouldn't have helped. 3 or 4 yrs at 3.5M and there will be no regrets. |

I think Keith might actually do ok'ish in Edmonton but I just can't believe they gave not only a good young player but had to sweeten the pot with a 3rd rounder. I would have loved to get a 3rd and Jones for either Pettersson or Matheson.
Weird to not sign Barrie but then add Keith at the same salary until he is 40. The worst part of it is Keith would only accept a trade to go west and Seattle, Vancouver and Calgary werent really options... should have been an easy trade for Holland to win.
Can we send them Jarry now for their 2nd rounder? |

Is Caleb Jones really that good? Is he going to be that good? I don't think he's currently better than Keith and the Oilers added a 3 ringed champion veteran experience presence to their locker room and blue line. Not getting all the major dissing of Edmonton on this one. Maybe the not signing Barrie again is a factor... But for me that trade isn't as bad as some are making it out to be if you look at it in a vacuum. |

Dom's model hates him. Really don't think the Oilers gave up anything really of consequence and really its more just that Keith the player isn't currently worth a 3rd round pick, and when you factor his 5.5 mil cap hit over the next two years the Oilers paid a 3rd and a whatever prospect to just throw away cap space. Classic Oilers. |

I don't really love it. Feels like rearranging deck chairs if that Bertuzzi trade is even in the realm of possibility. Assuming Dunn is legit, its a good move to make our blue line stronger, but our blue line isn't currently an on-ice problem. Finishing ability up front is our bigger non-goalie problem and I really don't think AA is the answer to that. |

I like AA style. Especially for as cheap as he could be. Idk. Its fun to throw things at the wall and see what happens.
Btw, what ever happened to Ferland? Is he one concussion away from being Lindros? |

Rust at his and contract status probably does nothing for Detroit. My best guess is they are starting with a 1st and an NHL player. Jarry would be interesting if Detroit really is looking for a goalie of the future. I think he might still have value. |

I agree on the rust bit and I don’t think Jarry is young enough for Y to waste his time on him. He’s a project in his mid 20s so even if he pans out he’s be over the hill by the time Detroit is ready to do anything. |

Maybe, goalies are tough to judge. Especially one that hasn't had a full season to play.
I just wonder if Yzerman is asking for something close to what Mantha got, which was a massive overpayment. |
