So he's a 4D with a 2D cap hit. That's smart cap management by Holland there. Also sounds like he is undisciplined if he takes bad penalties. Wasn't he also part of the sex assault cover up in 2010? Sounds like a great leader. - jfkst1
He's not a 4D.
He's a #6 that you rotate in and out of the lineup. |

Bingo usually agree with you but respectfully disagree he's fallen that far. We'll just have to see next year when the Oil raise the Cup lol.
Seriously, though there definitely points when I wanted him benched. Still can't believe Stan was able to unload Keith's entire salary. That's nuts. |

I get it. I know I don't see eye to eye with many in Chicago on Keith lol |

Next episode on the "Kenny Show" must be Luke Glendenning for 2.3 mil times 2 or 3 years, right? |

Interestimg deal. No salary retention, and have to protect DK. I thought Cerelli got fired? |

NBC Sports traded Pierre McGuire to the Ottawa Senators for future considerations. No salary was held by NBC Sports. - TheSabresTaco
Kathryn Tappen managed to get rid of Milbury, Roenick, and Pierre and convince NBC to keep her on the payroll. |

Ott thought the same thing with Phaneuf and look at that disaster.
EDM just made Dorian look like a genius taking Phaneuf and Zaitzev off the Leafs hands. |

The continued delusion of CHI fans on Keith's abilities are almost as astounding as Holland's stupidity. So you think betting on a 38 year old with massive wear and tear on his body is somehow gonna improve over the next two years and not continue his decline? You do realize it is very unlikely right? - jfkst1
Not saying he is winning another Norris any time soon. And yeah, he is 38. And yeah, if he isn't logging 24 minutes a night, his 17-18 minutes will be better than what you've been seeing with Chicago. He has been paired with either massive defensive liabilities or rookies for much of the last three years.
It is probably more a statement on the Hawks blue line that Keith at 37 was a guy they cannot replace without spending a lot more out of pocket cash next year. |

I think if he's slotted in at the 2nd pair instead of logging 23 minutes a night he can add value to the D corps.

I guess the lesson learned from the playoffs was you need to be able to lock a game down. Looking at his last post season, he was not good at that. Was there nothing else available? Schmidt for a 3rd and Jones? Dumba for a forward or a prospect/pick? |

Oilers are also losing Barrie...its not just Keith in Jones out
How are the Oilers better than the team that got swept in the first round? Mike Smith or whoever they get gonna post a .923 again? 9-0 vs the Sens?
Oilers will be lucky to make the playoffs let alone go deep |

I'm being generous. MAYBE he is a capable 4D. Regardless he isn't worth 5.5M/yr. Last two years he was worth maybe half that. That Holland and many CHI fans dont understand that is bizarre to me. The likelihood of a 38 year old improving is about as logically sound as playing Russian roulette with 5 rounds. |

THIS!
I would much rather have spent that money on keeping Barrie for another season than overpaying for 2 years of Keith. What a (frank)ing awful trade.

considering Keith was 2.5 TIMES worst defensively over the past 5 years than Jack Johnson, Hawks pulled a genius move here, move over chiarelli, holland wants the spot of worst EDM GM in history. |

Watched part of the series but can't say I'm knowledgeable about the Oil but I see 3 OT losses in a row. Hellebuyck went on a streak until they hit the red hot Habs. I do remember a terrible collapse in game 3 blowing a 3 goal lead.
Maybe some questionable decisions like putting the 4th line out on the game winning goal in game 3 and better goaltending than an over the hill Smith and Kostinen? |

Sad to see him go as a Blackhawks fan. Hope he proves a lot of you wrong and helps win a cup for you! - DuKen
you guys are worst than blackhawk posters....whining and crying about everything. This is a good move for both teams. Keith will help the Oil but they have more problems than Keith can solve. Yes a bit surprised the hawks did not have to retain 1-2 mildo per year...but there may have been another team with interest and Oil GM decided to make the move.
GREAT GREAT player...yes production has fallen off...but if used as 3-4 with limited special teams work and spotting in at 1-2 as needed at around 20 min per game he will will be a solid add. |

With the oilers finally freed of most of Chia’s anchors I predicted a couple months back that this off-season will not only determine wether or not the oilers become true contenders but also if Mcdavid will be wearing a different jersey 5 years from now if not sooner.
While the off-season is still young and crazier things have happened than this working out I would be more anxious than optimistic if this is how Holland plans to use his new found wealth. Hopefully this is a one-off for Holland and things don’t snowball from here. |

The whole "maybe he will be better if he plays < 20 mins/night" is not reassuring in the slightest.
Then factor in that Holland just paid assets to have 5.5M of his cap space consumed by a guy whose best attribute is that he might look better if he is used sparingly.

On the bright side if this means the oilers will be going 4-4-1 their fans won’t have to worry about him protecting kassian
….or at least they shouldn’t |

Will he be good in the room? Sure, maybe. Can he still play? Sure, mostly... Is he that missing piece that get the Oil to the promised land? Nope! 11+million for the next two seasons and assets to boot... If there was salary retained, like most of it, this makes sense but??? |
