a handful of rumors with the Devils. Really curious what Fitz is going to do in the end of July. How much do we add? What do we trade? Do we really trade the 4th overall pick in a tossup draft? Do we stand pat with developing kids, picking 4th and having next year be the "big add" all-in year? oh such meaningless hoopla.

I wonder if other teams value such a high pick in an uncertain draft. It might not have the same value as recent years.

A nice bump from his prior NHL salary and AHL salary. Good for him. Now keep improving.

Well, don't forget the NHL piling on for Kovy's not breaking the rules, but breaking the spirit penalties, both financial and rendering a 11thOA to 30thOA (big difference). Teams like Chicago and Tampa have done worse to the "spirit" and nothing happened to them. And now Weber claims he is hurting, so his contract will probably move to LTIR, again "spirit" is not mentioned. Minnesota actually followed the rules (and thus the "spirit") and are screwed for at least 5 years cap wise. Bettman is a joke.

100%. the spirit of the cap penalty was such utter bullshlt

not to mention lou totally blew the call by not forfeiting the 29th matteau pick in 2012

also the schneider trade set us back in a huge way that no devils fans want to admit. not only missed out on Bo but he kept those terrible terrible ruutu/tootoo teams afloat just enough to ruin our lotto odds

The Schneider trade set us back? Kind of... But we also went to the cup finals that season didn't we? Bo Horvat is a solid player, but he would not turn this team around, especially without Petterson and Boeser surrounding him.

Again, the biggest player from the Kovi penalty ended up being Vrana (assuming we followed the consensus picks). Good, yes. But not as bad as it would have been in other draft years. My biggest complain for that contract, was that Luongo was inked at a nearly identical deal (signed till 43 years of age i believe), and nobody batted an eye. I still can't understand how that was not the exact same b/s, and I believe both deals were inked withing a couple weeks of eachother.
