If healthy, a change of scenery will rejuvenate him a bit. He knows why he was brought in and could have a good impact in EDM. Again, EDM isn't going to be up against the cap this year. Don't want to beat a dead horse but they aren't bringing in a ton of top $ FAs anyways.

Again, they ARE now hamstrung cap wise. They traded draft capital by locking the 2nd and 3rd picks next year in trades. And already don't have their 2nd, 3rd, or 5th this year. And only have 14M to acquire a 1LW, a 2RW, a 2RD, a goalie (preferably a 1a or b) and 2 extra forwards for injury insurance. This isn't just FA, and as much as you want to say no one will go there it is proven wrong. May have to overpay sure, but they do come. Many teams need to sell due to flat cap, see Tampa, on the cheap. Edmonton lost the ability to buy any of those from this deal. Buy you keep on trolling on.

No, you claiming no one ever signs in Canada repetitively is trolling. I pointed out many cases where guys have signed in Edmonton let alone western Canada and you said they were all trash.

Just stated that maybe Brent Sopel didn't speak out until now because he originally feared for his job and then kept quiet for the victims sake or because it tore him up mentally until now so he finally spoke out. But Stevie boy thinks Brent is just just being a hypocrite and doing this for some sort of benefit for himself.

I would think league minimum gets one of them. As for a G? Pretty sure with Seattle coming into the league and only 1 G being able to be protected league wide there will be deals to be had and for cheap. So tell me again how screwed we are cause of DK2? As you so astutely mentioned a buy out of Neal or Koskinen is on the horizon too.

Broberg was with us for the whole play in series and looked damn good in the bubble. He absolutely has a shot of playing in the NHL next year BTW. The Oilers already have Stalock (785,000) as our NHL # 3 on our cap . Two extra forwards that is league minimum or close to it.


I haven't worked in over a decade so I spend A LOT of time on the Oilers. Kind of know my stuff.

For a team with very little character, I don't think this is a bad trade.
Case in point the monumental collapse of the Oilers vs the Jets.
The team needs a leader on the back end... it is not Klefbom, Nurse, or Larsson...

Keith is someone who can rally the troops in those dire times.

The team has no one with the same level of experience.

The cap hit sucks, but Jones wasn't going to make the lineup next season anyway... so using the term asset is a little generous.

Again, you don't have to like the cap hit... but the team is better than it was before
