Gotta be NMC related on Suter. But they don’t really have more than 4 forwards worth protecting. Very weird. Maybe Billy G thinks it’s a compliance buyout. - Feds91Stammer
Could also be a last resort for an Eichel move to clear space.
Amazing amount of cap hit the next 4 years for both of them combined.
21 - $4.7M
22 - $12.7M
23 - $14.7M
24 - $14.7M
After less than $2M. |

Here it is from Russo “ The Wild will pay each $6.7 million over the next eight years and be charged with $2.371 million, $6.371 million and $7.371 million cap hits in the next four years, respectively, for each, then $833,333 cap hits the four years after that for each.”
The fact they’ll be making 6.7M for next 8 years should allow them to take less money. - kfinl170
Parise is a 4th liner at this point. Suter on the other hand could be a nice cheap veteran signing for a team up against the cap, i.e. Chara with Washington. |

How much is this going to hamstring them? - kfinl170
Literally no savings in year 3 and 4. Basically 15m in dead cap each year. Makes no sense. |

Saved 10 mill. Wait till you figure out what player makes 10 mill they are definitely in on and leaders for... Hint: if you look back to mid April I said it here with multiple comments on it haha “no sources though” 😉 |

Could be but still makes no sense. Who on that forward group really needs to be protected? |

Except for the fact that $10M in savings is only this upcoming season.

Not sure. Trying to make some kind of sense of it. They are both immovable even at 50% retention. Nobody is taking their term unless they're getting paid to do it.

True but one that could maybe produce more than anyone else we've had there, especially with matchups vs 4th line....also, he and Sid are good buds. Would you hate it if the Pens signed him to vet min? I wouldn't. He was scratched in that first round but when they finally dressed him in game 3 or 4 (cant remember which) I was watching him and he looked fantastic.

Gonna be really funny when Eichel basically counts as 22m against the cap |

The only way to look at it is Billy G learned from old man Rutherford. |

Where does he fit though? I don't think Jake is getting kicked off that line for an aging vet with no wheels left just because they're buds.
The only way I'd sign Parise to a $1Mish signing is if the Pens moved Zucker and couldn't afford anyone else.

Hold on... you think Suter is unmovable????? He is still a legitimately very good defenceman. He is older and slowing down a bit but I'd still hands down take him over Dumo, let alone Pettersson or Matheson. |

If it wasn't the expansion draft they could probably move him at 50% retention, but that term would be problematic given his age, but again, whoever would trade for him has to protect him, so I think that makes him immovable. |

Yuuup! Plan was originally to only buy out Parise when the trade fell through… to keep everyone they want AND add Eichel Suter was needed to. Dumba currently is part of a large package with 2 1st and some other pieces.
Not saying it’s done as there is specifically 2 teams right in the mix for Eichel to. If they miss on Eichel they have a backup plan with that team directly involved. |

Would love to get him. Especially if Zucker gets taken by Vegas, but even if not, he will be on a pretty cheap contract and he will look much better playing with a good Center like Malkin, Crosby or Carter. |

Looking at last year's roster he doesnt fit but Im not totally attached to the 4th line as others are, espeically at the cost of it. Zucker is most likely gone in expansion.

I'd rather pay Suter $7.5M for the next 4 years than Pettersson or Matheson what they are making. |

People keep saying this, but it's far from a given. I use to think he was too, but we have no idea what other players will be available making Zucker a bad choice for Seattle.
