would be funny if he did and they took him.. Does Seattle HAVE to take a player from each team like this article says? Thought they Could.. but didn't have to. - niteislander
Yea that's the only thing that makes me think that maybe he'd prefer to wait to sign. Not that I think Seattle is dying for a nearly-40yo defenseman...but he may not want to risk it. Although if that were to happen I could see him just saying "(frank) it" and retiring.
I also wouldn't be surprised if they kept Coburn around at the veteran minimum as a 7th defenseman. Clearly they don't like Aho much and if they buyout or move Hickey they'd have literally nobody else because nobody in the AHL is ready to make the jump. |

I know Bolduc may need more time but nobody else in Bridge would be ready?
What are they doing down there? |

Well to be fair there is "ready" and then there is Trotz ready.. so no shot that Bolduc, or Wilde would be in the "trusted" category at this point in their young careers. If someone got hurt and they didn't have a Hickey, Aho or Coburn to put in I could see an older guy getting a call instead (Hutton, Wotherspoon, Vande Sompel, etc.).. so no u don't want to see any of those guys on the team.
That said I think either Hickey, aho or both will still be around.

Wotherspoon and Van Sompel seems have be down a long while it seems. No question it takes a lot to earn Barry and Lou's trust. Just seems Thompson has a lifetime job in Bridge. |

Well Vande Sompel missed an entire season after going flying into the goal post in either training camp or pre-season last year. I haven't given up on him, I think he may have a little bit of potential. Probably a long-shot at this point though. |

Bridge is very frustrating. Should be more players the Isles can count on in a pinch at this point. I'm not talking star players but it should not be a wasteland for years either. If Casey does not come back or he re-signs and gets hurt, Bridge should have a 4C that can step in. |

So I was just reading about the Avs moving Graves to the Devs.. seemed like a expansion draft move. I know that Erik Johnson waived his NMC for the draft and the thought was that would allow the Avs to protect Caleb Makar, Toews and Girard, but does Johnson qualify for this draft as he only played 4 games last year? Or do they have other D-men who qualify and it was just not having to put him on protected list?

I'm honestly not sure, but I am relatively sure we're missing something. There's no way two of the better GM's in the league are just forgetting that they have to meet the expansion draft requirements. |

Leddy to the Redwings for Panick and a 2nd round pick. Hate to see Leddy go. |
