Hamilton cost you no assets but he will get a ridiculous contract most likely. Trading for another D might get you a player with more reasonable terms BUT he will cost you picks, prospects and roster players, making your team weaker in other areas.
MB has a nice summer ahead.... - Symba007
Well one thing is for sure.
Gotta expect plenty of action.

D ) Trade for Giordano
E ) Sign Tyson Barrie (I know I know, bad at defence, etc., but here's your puck-moving guy) - Not_Yan

There's no replacing Shea Weber completely.

Tampa may have the defenseman we need (cernak), but they won't trade him to mtl.
If he's on the market, Ryan Ellis. |

Need to reup Burrows and the whole coaching team with Laval
Need to replace Weber most likely
Need to sign Danault, Armia, Perry, Lehko and KK (Tatar and Staal are gone)
Need to find a LW
Need a new red suit
Might need to light up a few candles for Nashville if Weber's career is over. |

They should put Petry on the first pair and then look for a number 4. Will be easier this way.
+, they will need to rely on their third pair this season (Romanov and Fleury would be my pick like you said) |

I think they might go short term for a solution on D with Guhle, Struble and Harris knocking on the door starting in 2022 |

Don't forget Norlinder who's beginning his AHL career.

they said he made big progress last year. They said he has the talent but he was not physically ready to play at this level, he never had the work ethic to study the game and be prepared, he is one of those "projects". Big year for him with Laval, this is his last contract year. |

He's got ways to go before having a spot in the NHL.
Good progression last year and the offensive skills are there.... but he's also prone to mistakes and not the most reliable defensively.
Bottom line, so far his offensive output doesn't outweight the defensive problems.
Next year will tell us alot about his future imo. If he takes another big step, there's a chance. |

other than Fleury, anybody could make the jump on defense next season? Guhle will probably play juniors, no?
I think they need a vet anyway |

The only one would have been Leskinen.
And he's gone now.
So unless Norlinder or Guhle blows everyone out of the water (unlikely) from the get go...
I think Fleury is the only one making the jump.
Harris maybe, once his school days are over.... if he doesn't bolt as a UFA....

Him to Suzuki:
"You got a hell of a future kid"
Suzuki:
"I know".

I think Yan is on to something with Barrie. He's a RHD and a puck moving D. Could work with Chariot, no? |
