Ltir not retire. - Mashadar
League and team docs need to approve. Mtl could let him get healthy and clear him and eph Nashville. Literally listening to Friedman now talking on the radio saying Montreal is waiting on the league to tell them the deal with Weber but thinks either way he's done. Says the five years left is why the league may rule on it |

Well Weber is getting paid very little after next season.
So yeah, I get why they want to watch this closely.
This being said, I have no doubt about Weber being absolutely broken.
What a warrior to have played the way he has in the playoffs despite all this.

I am saying he will not retire, but be put in litr, even if he never plays again... from his perspective, why give up the $$ he would still get? - Mashadar
Teams normally allow that because they benefit from no cap recapture and using ltir. Habs don't get that benefit so why play along? |

Some guys were on ltir for years, so not sure why this is an issue. At the end of the day, seems like they should be able to ltir for a year or two, if Weber makes the case he wants to try to come back. |

Yeah, Lebrun pretty much said the same thing.
At the way Habs players focused on him after we got eliminated speaks volume as well.
I'm sure they all knew.

Yandle is similar to Barrie.
Only a little worse and older. |

yeah and while I'm not entirely surprised by this turn of events, I was not expecting it to happen so soon, with the way he was playing during the playoffs I thought he still had at least a year or 2 left, if they managed his ice time properly.

of course not. I'm assuming they want a more offensive dman. not another Edmundson |

ideally in that scenario they would keep both Chiarot and Edmundson

Did those teams that left guys on ltir benefit from it? There is your answer. Habs don't benefit. Molson has enough money they could find a backdoor to help make Weber whole while he plays along if needed. Long and short it isn't up to Weber alone, it's up to the team and docs too. Then there's the league docs |

Sounds like something a Leafs fan would say. Since Barrie was a failure over there.
Which is surprising, considering you're just a fan of hockey.

Weber to retire and become new assistant coach with the Habs according to the guy in my parking lot.
He's usually wrong 99% of the time. |

I know your basing your entire opinion of Barrie from what you saw on nhl.com/stats/leaders/defense/reg_season/ because you are not a fan of hockey. |

or maybe Weber is not injured that badly, will be ready for camp or xmas, and Habs just want to scare SEA so they don't pick him when left unprotected |

Friedman specifically said the Habs are waiting on a ruling from the league on this which while unusual I will trust his comments and wait until that ruling or other information becomes available. The rest is just conjecture |

I'd start by appointing him "locker room cheerleader", since his leadership will be sorely missed that way he could still be around the guys and help them out in tougher times.
