For poops and giggles, if Danault walks:

Getzlaf to play with Perry?
Statsny?
Bonino?
Cizikas?

Guess is:

Suzuki, Kotkaniemi, Evans, Poehling. Not pretty on paper

but pretty in pink?

7 years is a long time for a contract. GMs have to think about the back end of those contracts. or should. PD plays a lot of hard minutes against top QoC. my guess is that don't think he will age well.

I don't see why that would be the case, he's far from being a physical player like Gallagher, and he doesn't seem to be injury prone. I guess we'll see

they simply cannot afford to lose Danault imo. that's why I am a bit surprised this is not done yet. we'll see.

I'd like to believe they have a gentlemen agreement, and will sign after the expansion draft. would allow MB to protect an extra guy.

Sounds like a nudge nudge wink wink Marian Hossa kinda “career ending injury” to me. The league should look into these shenanigans.
Weber gets his money. Habs get out of an onerous contract. And to think Hab fans were moaning about TBs circumvention of the cap a mere two weeks ago

they could sign him yes. if he agrees to it! if he doesn't he then hit the market, and Habs can sign him, according to their gentlemen agreement (or not). Danault made it pretty clear he wanted to stay...

so teams could just leave a bunch of players unprotected and they simply could say no to the kraken, or does that only apply to players who aren't signed yet?

and they have to leave 2 unprotected. so maybe they'll sign Perry soon, just to leave him unprotected.
