So with this new situation.

It seems obvious we're losing Allen.

Or Cale Fleury.

A day ago I saw no chance of it being Allen. Now I see little chance it's anybody else

Good blog. Too many questions right now but it could be a long term blessing in disguise and prevent the Habs from trying to double down on last seasons success...or they'll do something stupid like going with Barrie.

Outside of Hamilton and Jones there aren't any known available options that can even shine Weber's jock let alone be considered an adequate replacement. Is Dunn still potentially available? He may be a decent #4 to build with. Too many questions.

What do you think of Savard if he doesn’t resign with TB? Physical,RD and gives you 20 min TOI. Think he’s from Quebec too.

I'd rather have Werenski than Jones on D.

Ryan Suter would be a good cheap replacement. Add Hamilton and Tarasenko, and voila.

Would need to be for a very reasonable price.

His best days are already way behind him.

Savard isn't capable of replacing Weber on either end of the ice. He looked good playing bottom pairing minutes but would likely be exposed playing higher up the lineup and will likely get overpaid by somebody intending to do just that.

Of course, this is the summer the NHL will crack down on LTIR shenanigans.

Great blog Karine.

Thanks for the info about the expansion and the possible career threatening injuries, didn't know that!

Werenski is a LD and Jones is the one believed to be available, not apples to apples. By that logic I'd rather have Hedman even though Savard is the one likely available.

It isn't as simple as just adding FAs. They have to want to be in Montreal and Habs need the cap space. Suter is likely staying in the US. Hamilton likely doesn't want to be in a big fishbowl market. Tarasenko is pretty broken. No voila

We're in mid july dude. Before the expansion, before free agency, before the draft.

Let yourself dream of the impossible before the harsh reality of august hits you.

Reasonable expectations are what made this springs playoff run so great. I enjoy reality, building video game teams is for video games.

Still curious if Seattle will take a chance on Drouin, a gamble that could pay for them

depends what the other options are.

If they have other options in net they prefer...what else is available for MTL that has value?

Armia even as a ufa if he'd sign. Sometimes nothing is the best answer as Vegas showed. Take a ufa and let them walk.

Put differently Drouin could be a big win or a cap hit with no delivery. Big risk to start out on

YEP It is time to get rid of the old and bring in the new. Inflated contracts should also be gone to. Too much money being spent for little return on investment. That is just bad economics.

That's funny. I don't think I've seen this joke before. Anywhere. Ever. Let alone in the last 18 hours. Not. One. Time
