I think the hatred of Quinn has turned Gauthier into a mythical player.

But isn’t the whole point of firing JD and Gorton was that they wanted to stay the course and Dolan wanted to get better immediately?

I didn’t hate Quinn, I hated his decision to play Blackwell and Howden over Gauthier. I don’t think Dolans decision had as much to do with not winning as it did with going out and getting completely embarrassed by the Isles and rag dolled by the Caps.

Hertl at 7-8 per as a 2C? Sign me up. The next question that we don’t need to figure out just yet but the decision is looming is what to do with Zib. He will be 29 at the start of his next contract taking him to 35-36 and will want a long term deal probably in the ballpark of 10 million per. With his injury history and age would we be better off moving on and trading him? Not sure there’s a right answer there.

I keep him if he's willing to take less than $10 mil per. Move on from Buch now, Krieder eventually, and Strome is gone after this season.

This is a totally unpopular opinion in Ranger-land, but I stand by it. Ryan Strome and Thomas Hertl are essentially the same exact player. Why give up assets and pay someone more for marginal difference?

I’ll give in to the fact that Hertl is much better at the dots, but I just don’t have the same kind of love for Hertl that many of you do. Seems like a minor improvement, if any.
