Cutting a deal with Sea, then dealing Risto after the freeze seems like the most likely path here.

Trading a for a G also makes sense. Forcing these moves together seems unlikely.

so many things wrong with this. Girgensons is not great, he is a 4th liner. And Seattle wont be claiming a 2 million plus 4th liner.

My point is, I am worried, the sabres might be freezing these players over younger, cheaper, better players.

So what is the holdup, you think. The fact that what we pay for a goalie has to be more than which player they lose in expansion draft is worth it?

Goalie A (expected to be taken in expansion draft)
Traded for a 4th round pick (or something)

Now Skater B is taken in expansion draft, what is his value to other team.
