Do you really believe he "quit them"?
- Michael Pachla

“Like I told Kevyn [Adams] a little while ago I just said I’m open for all the ideas. Right now I mean it’s hard obviously the season just ended so yeah I’m frustrated, I’m pissed and it sucks so I told him I’m open for all the scenarios staying or if he trades me I’m fine with that too,” Ristolainen said.

If Buffalo loses Risto/Borgen for free this team is absolutely stupid.

No reason Risto has not been traded yet

I’m with you on this. But I’ll be even more annoyed if they lose Borgen over Risto.

Yes

Say what you will about Risto, but he readied himself every off season and came to play every game. He played how he was directed to, played as many minutes that they threw at him and did so with very little emotion one way or another regardless of the situation.

Dude's a true pro and if frustration with this sh!tty organization is perceived as "quitting them", it's someone elses problem, not his.

I dont view his ambivalent attitude as his problem.

It's the Sabres problem and they should rid themselves of his malcontented attitude instead of continuing to overvalue his services like they have done for 8 years.

I still say the Kraken take Miller in any case

Did Adams overplay his hand, or does he already have something in his pocket.

Well…. At least we know nothing will happen until Thursday, if anything at all….

Bring on the protection list and the rumors…

Sabres will protect Risto but have a deal worked out that Seattle takes Miller over Borgen.

Makes the most sense to get max value for Risto and not lose Borgen.

Yes pure speculation on my part.

Ladd (and his contract) plus picks going to Arizona

2021 2nd round pick and a conditional 2022 2nd and conditional 2023 3rd

he's not a malcontent...i think that's a misperception...he's definitely a loner, as any who've covered him throughout his career will tell you outright...it's just the way he is and his non-emotive interaction with the media is negatively magnified because of the crappy situation this team has been in throughout his career

That's not the attitude I'm talking about. He can be a loner all he wants but he doesn't care if he plays here or not. The Sabres should reciprocate that attitude.

The Devils and the Flyers didn't want him. I doubt the Kraken do either

I was told 3 years ago to shut up about Risto having zero trade value.
He hasn't improved since then, save for 15 games this season while playing with McCabe.

The staff realizes he has low value, especially when compared to his $5.4m contract. Their best move now is to play him and trade at the TDL for a 4th and a partially smoked, knock-off cigar...from Thompson Cigars.

It's funny reading those posts back to back. Quite possible that Phl and NJ both wanted him, but the price was too high for them. Also possible that they have a post-freeze deal worked out. Have to let this play out before jumping to conclusions.

If they don't make a deal with Sea, and Risto or Borgen go, they'll take some heat.

Well if you feel like losing some second round picks, Kyle could be gone. Or, (frank) it.

Well atleast some of the teams in on the big 2 didn't waste any assets today.
