It's funny reading those posts back to back. Quite possible that Phl and NJ both wanted him, but the price was too high for them. Also possible that they have a post-freeze deal worked out. Have to let this play out before jumping to conclusions.

Devil's have looked at graves for 2 years and have talked to col about him numerous times so it wasn't like they moved on from risto for him

And graves is someone that the devil's need and I think is better than risto

Absolutely...yet other teams in need of a Dman have made a move...if those teams were worried about losing Risto; he would have been moved by now.

I'll take a 2035 5th...the win in trading/ losing him is a) $5.4m in Cap space, b) addition to play by subtraction, c)...maybe z actually, anything received back.

Edit:
BTW, your post, while reasonable, sounds eerily similar to others made back then...and every year since.

He's gotta have something lined up, I just can't fathom he doesn't.

Kevyn faced over the work order to the NHL in time for the 3:00 deadline.
He then crossed off the task of, Fax List to NHL by 3:00.

He is very happy now.
Working on the Draft Prospects now, will have his 1st rounder figured out by next Sunday..stay tuned.

I wanna believe that, and I do hope he does.
Which means he exposes Borgen to save his asset in Risto...me no like.
Save Borgen, expose Risto and Miller...dare them to take Risto, lol.

Maybe the deal is for Seattle to take skinner!

Rossi, Boldy, 22nd, 26th along with Fiala or Erickson Ek would definitely have the sabres listening.
- sabresfan69
If this is the expectation, we are going to be very disappointed when he is moved

That doesnt get them listening, that is an instant accept by buffalo

Keeping Eichel and Reinhardt untill the trade deadline would be the smart g.m. play, create a sweepstakes to get 2022 firsts..plus prospects
- Pet.m.d.

Team typically cannot take on players such as Eichel, and Reinhart mid season due to cap. And no way to retain salary on just one year.

Any team that would be in the lottery by the deadline, would protect their first with a condition.

I'd throw in Olo at 50% retained, as a Thank You parting gift.

Why would anyone expect Adams to make a trade today? He is too busy figuring out his expansion list.

Or he already knows there taking Miller, and it really doesn't matter if Borgen or Risto are exposed.

So that’s one tendy for them…

I’ve seen mocks that have them taking 3 goalies.

Is there a goalie deal to be made out there and can Adams pull it off in 1.5 hours?

- Gr8daygo

They are required to draft 3 goalie in the expansion draft

Thing that really surprised me is he didn't go after a goalie.

That is a player I would be taking, if I was Seattle.

Maybe, maybe so...I hope so.

Yet we must give considerable contemplation to the insiders reporting that Francis' ask for making deals is absolutely crazy high...crazier than Adam's value on Eichel.
I am only sure that I would not want to pay a high price to save Risto for a trade that entails middling returns.
I know, I know ... assumptions.

Let's put it this way...Francis hired a rather robust Analytics team to help him. Unless those guys/gals are blind, Risto won't be selected given his atrocious Stats, his high contract value, and becoming a UFA at seasons end...their only play would be to bet they could acquire good value at the TDL...but deductive reasoning says If Adams can't secure decent value for him, it is unlikely they will.

We shall see.

It feels similar for sure. It's entirely possible that they are overplaying their hand on every move and completely blow this. They just passed on a good opportunity to make moves.

I'm choosing to have faith in Ventura's influence for now. That may change in a week.

We wouldnt get those two prospects, plus two first, and a very solid NHL player.

1) Either a Great prospect or an Early First
2) Lesser prospect or a late 1st
3) Former First round pick that hasnt lived to hype yet (nolan patrick is a great example)
4) A serviceable NHLer, someone like Rask or Henrique, that will make the Cap work.

I'm not that pessimistic about Eichel's trade return.
I think:
- '21 top 10 pick
- "A-level Prospect" with a solid chance of becoming a 1C
- young (>26 yo) roster player

If a Cap dump is required, an additional asset or an upgrade to the that roster player above... depending on the Cap Dump details. (AVV, Term, player)

I'd be happy with a clean deal that doesn't require a Cap Dump.

If we werent such a trainwreck, we could be trying to land Tarasenko rather than trading away Eichel and Reinhart.

Unreal.

Im not trying to be pessimistic, just trying to look for trades in the past that were somewhat similar to Eichel. Not many, but I think Carter is probably is the framework for one.

All we can do lon is wait and see. I will say that 2 new offers came in 1 for Eichel and 1 for Rhino. And that the Sabres and Colorado have talked a lot lately. Some of this info is coming from a fellow board member.
