Borgen is still too much of an unknown. He’s played a good 3-4 nhl games out of 10. Why would Seattle take a chance on that?

As silly as it sounds that the Leafs traded for McCann and then did not protect him, I actually understand their logic.

Next Thursday will determine if the new analytic guy has any real day or not.

I don’t see how you can hire one of the most respected hockey analytical minds in hockey and keep Risto on your team.

Out of the 324 players protected, goaltenders Linus Ullmark (BUF) and Philipp Grubauer (COL) were the only two pending UFAs.

I'll be surprised if Ullmark is back in Buffalo - Sabres had no other G to protect. And negotiations ongoing with Grubauer.

Interesting that the #Sabres didn't acquire a goalie over the last number of days before the freeze, knowing that there were at least 30 that were going to be exposed.

Couldn't have cost a ton. And teams could have easily signed any goalie to a contract for next season to expose

They gave away almost nothing to Pittsburgh to get McCann, and by trading for him and exposing both him and Kerfoot, they assure themselves of still having at least one of them on their team to anchor their 3rd line Center role.
