Sounded to me like both Giradi and Ellis, with additional coach or 2 he is working on signing up. |

Sounds like he is returning they're just waiting to finalize the entire staff before making announcements

Hot take, Morgan Reilly is Rasmus Ristolainen on a good team. So if that’s Clarke, good luck to anyone that takes him. - SDSabre
Pretty hot, considering Rielly brings much more offense in all situations than Risto ever could. Makes up for his defensive lapses.

Ellis is going back to the player development role from what I understand
On the Sabres coaching staff just not an assistant coach
But Granato worded it much differently so who knows |

Devil's advocate, why? I don't mean to Fitz the conversation, but is there empirical evidence that suggests he can't be a good hire?

Heard that too from my main man. For those who are offended by people with inside knowledge, #inssiderr #sources
Edit: The way Vogl words it, Granato is working to have Ellis on the bench. So, maybe those conversations changed.

not sure why that's a problem...if they're blowing it up trading jack and sam, this year will be geared towards developing the youngins in an nhl setting, which is what ellis does anyway |

why? - Michael Pachla
It frightens me less if MFE is going back to player development.
Who's the lucky one that gets to coach a PP without Jack and Sam? That's what frightens me. |

Probably right, but Rielly is getting +60% Ozone starts vs Risto being about equal or leaning Dzone (why I don't know). I think there's a lot of overlap to their game (Can rack up assists, not an overly high amount of goals ((Reilly had one 20 goal season, otherwise hanging around 8/9, much like Risto)), and more often then not just basically close your eyes in the Dzone for both). Reilly has 60 more points playing on a very good, high scoring team. I think they'd be a lot closer if they were on similar teams. Risto is part of the problem for sure. I don't think you can understate that Reilly is also a big part of the Leafs problems as well. |

At this point who cares?
How many people can name NHL coaches let alone assistant NHL coaches?
I don't care who they hire, just make it the right guy for the job at the time.
Ellis has certainly helped Casey before a NHL player. It's usually those journeymen type players that make the best coaches

well at that point our PP sucks not because of the coach but because of the talent more than likely.. |

the type of players that didn't deserve to be in the league on talent alone. They know what it takes to work your ass off to over achieve. the vanek's of the world make horrible coaches. |
