I appreciate the humor, but his contract status is what makes it tough. Each team that makes an offer for him has to guess whether he wants to be there long-term or not.

risto gets you a second rd pick at the trade deadline

In all honesty, you're right. I would imagine the Sabres would have to allow a deal to be discussed prior to get anywhere near fair value.

Agreed, other than UPL. People massively underrate him IMO. I'd be more than happy with him as our backup next year, learning from a competent starter which he will replace gradually over 2-3 seasons.
- RhinoFan

Oh I’m a big UPL fan. But I want him starting in Rochester. Not backing up in buffalo. He needs at minimum 1 full Ahl season.

Here's the real question, with Jack and Risto gone, is there any way it isn't Captain Reinhart?

No one should freak out over losing Borgen. That being said, with the direction the team is going, have to think they try to move Risto and keep him. Force Seattle into taking Miller and be done with it.

And get a (frank)ing goalie to protect already!

- RhinoFan

1.) Expose risto and Miller
2.) Watch Seattle take Miller
3.) Profit

If risto has value why wouldn't Seattle take him and then trade him ?

It's alright, by the time week 6 comes around, our starter and backup will have both torn something and he'll be starting.

He's ready. Just needs time to adjust to speed, sooner the better.

I would think so, unless you make Okposo captain which besides his contract you can't really fault him

Wish I was confident of that. I think Risto has more value, it seems like the PA teams are certainly interested. But you're right all comes down to that. I wonder who has the lesser chance of being acquired by Seattle, Risto or Borgen.

The only way you convince Reinhart to stay, especially if Eichel is traded, is to tell him "this is your team now". If he stays, he's the captain.

Could make sense, kind of an interim captain for a couple years while we try to get our poop together

Thx. I'd say 25%

Thought NJ was a good fit but that seems to be over

Remember when we could have got Ehlers for Risto? Good times, damn botts

2 exposure scenarios:

Borgen
Miller

Risto
Miller

I think it costs more to protect Borgen over Miller than it does to protect Risto over Miller (if there is any cost at all)

Pittsburgh potentially exposing McCann is interesting to say the least.

I know we don't want to lose Borgen, but he also isn't that valuable to Seattle. They are likely to take 12 D (give or take). Borgen would rate near the bottom and be unlikely to make their team. He's also no longer waiver exempt. They will inevitably end up flipping some players for mid/late picks out of necessity. I don't think it would take much to protect him.

Friedman and Marek on 31TP see the #STLBlues as the #1 contender to sign Gabriel Landeskog if the Avs decide to let him walk. He is very tight with Ryan O'Reilly.

- Stripes77
haha. That annoys me for obvious reasons
