It’s a covid, flat cap era, no big dollar or long term deals will get signed, all players will be taking big discounts.

Only 15 hits last season. He really isn't his Dad.

41 giveaways though.

Not when the kid is 22 years old (tomorrow) and one of the best young defensemen in the entire league.

“ The #Canucks  should rent out a spot on their protected list.

For example:

Acquire Alex Killorn from Tampa for a 7th. Then send him back (after the expansion draft) for a 2nd.

Not sure how Gary would feel about this but it's greasy and I approve.”

Interesting idea from twitter, but Tampa couldn’t be sure that the Canucks would actually make the second half of that trade after expansion.

All signs point to the Seattle Kraken signing and selecting pending UFA goalie Chris Driedger from the Florida Panthers as part of the expansion draft process, sources say.

If you’re going to sign one, giving it to a kid who is 23 is much better than waiting until they are 27 IMO.

It’s the same with NTC, NMC etc. all things you have to eat to get the best years of a player.

Imagine a league where every players deal was for one year, and teams changed massively every year!

IMO it's a smart deal for a kid that turns 22 tomorrow, they now have cost certainty with one of their best players for eight years. Coming out of the flat cap, assuming the cap rises, could be an excellent deal like the one Edmonton signed with Draisaitl or Colorado with MacKinnon, who are now underpaid.

Yeah but things that look great today won't look great in 5 years and you will be trying to move anchors Benn Seguin Oel Weber Sutter Parise

I agree, I’d rather the final years of a massive deal are for 28, 29 and 30 year old Player X than 33, 34 and 35 year old.

But that’s my point. Instead of waiting until they are already in their prime, get them signed long term when young. Benn is 31 with whatever, 5? years remaining? If he was 31 and on an expiring 8 year deal he would have provided excellent value for at least 6, probably 7 or those years. Now you would be deciding on a sweetheart deal to take him to retirement, letting him walk, or trading him at the deadline.

He'll be 22-23-24-25-26-27-28-29 for the life of the deal, expires when he's 29.

What will be more entertaining? If Jim does nothing, or if Jim does everything.

Either way, I feel like this place is going to explode.

He's such a great young player, Flyers could've had Heiskanen, Makar or Pettersson...but no, they got Nolan Bust Patrick

I just don't think there's a lot of deals out there for Benning. Like really, what's he gonna do and what's he gonna do it with?

He just says a lot of nonsense thinking he's going to pull the wool over someones eyes and he comes up with zero's more times than not

Either way, the arguments are going to be epic.
