With Detroit retaining half of Panik’s deal, results in a net addition of $4.125 million in cap space for #Isles

Eklund played against men and had 23 points in 40 games.

Lysell really flashy and fast but 3 points in 26 games for a high offensive player?

I'm sure he will play but when drafting him his comparables are mid first picks at best.

If he gets past 15. I don't doubt someone probably gets a steal but hes certainly not a top 10 in this draft.

If Eklund is there then I would clearly take him (same with Clarke, McT) but the discussion was about Johnson vs Lysol.

For me if Johnson is the last top nine player available then I would trade back. Would consider Lysell over him if the pick is taken - I think he has some untapped skill that was not utilized in the bottom six this year. Still has the ability to be effective in the bottom six at 18 years of age and was very good at the world jrs (knowing you have to be very careful when extrapolating wjc success to NHL success)

😁 Dalle Colle was probably the first player I ever put on my Do not draft list.

They’re still going to lose a player to Seattle, and can make additional moves if needed after the expansion draft. They’ll be compliant.

If you looked at comparables. Lysell resembles a lot of .50-.60 ppg nhl players.

Johnson PPG this season in the NCAA for draft eligibles landed him between Eichel and Toews.

I'd be taking Johnson easily, he has room for growth in strength and skating.

Some steep prices for teams looking to shed cap or get something instead of losing to Seattle.

Considering that in just one year the only debatable contracts on the books will be Myers and whatever stupid mistakes they make this off season, I’d say that’s an expensive one season advantage.

Canucks are not in a position to take on a salary and receive compensation for doing so, they’re also not in a position to shed salary due to it costing them some of their future. I see another bottom ten finish unless Benning can really work some magic, we all know that’s not happening

I agree. Got to find a way to make the players they currently have be better. NYI had guys like Matt Martin, leo Komarov. Not so awesome guys but playing well enough so the team doesn't suck. They're obviously differences between the clubs but sometimes just have to find a different way to make it work.

Hopefully that is Shaw and younger players taking the next step

I dont think they struggle as bad as they did this season. They struggled pretty badly at times.

Some rookies should fight for spots. They might be improvements.

Benning will end up being the best gm ever.

Why you ask?

He was able to both have a tire fire on the ice and produce a dumpster fire in the office.

The new jerseys should be tires burning in a dumpster for the ever so popular tire dumpster fire.

I think Abbotsfords team name has now been created

Next year will be a lost season if they do nothing waiting for bad contracts to come off the books, which puts players like JT Miller and Bo Horvat one year closer to UFA status. That’s not necessarily a good situation. Or is it?

Their bottom six is really troublesome and if they go into the season without replacing Edler and his 25 minutes a night, and to a lesser extent Schmidt, their defense is also going to be a huge issue. Time is on their side though.

They created this situation by going all in too early, and then doing nothing last year. Reap what you sow.

Beagle will be healthy hopefully. Roussel back to better health.

They definitely need a player or 2 but I sure wouldn't go all out.

Edler as the analytics said was a bottom pair then all of a sudden a top pair. Probably because he played with Schmidt and not Myers.

I wanted clarity last season and they didn't and now the team looks less clear than last season.

Pick a damn direction and go with it.

Purely hypothetical but if they struggle next season and then JTM and Horvat only have one year to UFA status there’s little chance they re-sign IMO in Vancouver with several years of losing under their belts…the team.

Then what? You’re right back to where you were six years ago with a young team that lacks depth and still losing.

This is why being a Canuck fan is so difficult, the majority of their existence they’ve been tripping over their own mistakes and not much changes over the years.

They’ll have to hope that they can take enough of a step forward to convince those two that things have changed. Like Colorado did with Landeskog for instance. Though that’s not working out so far…

Ryan Donato will be a free agent. SJ not re-signing him.

20 points in 50 games. Ex Bruin ex Wild ex Shark.

I'd give him a contract.

Speculation canucks will be going after Adam Larson as it's reported he's going to test the market.
