I think we can all agree Danault is a great shutdown center, but his offensive skills are a mediocre at best. He's no where near Patrice offensively. Holy (frank) I was so unimpressed everytime he had a good scoring chance these playoffs. Are we willing to pay 6.5-7 million (I'm guessing that's what he wants) for a 3rd line center? I'm more than happy to pay him 6 years for 5 and may even reluctantly pay him 6 for 6, but any higher seems like too much imo. - apex123
Are you seriously going to argue that using that video as support? Ok it was a decent backhand pass, Lehkonen's finisher was more notable there. If I had it all taped, a montage could be made of Danault fumbling prime scoring chances in front of the opposing goalie all playoffs. 1 goal and 4 points in the playoffs says all you need to know about his offensive skills. Less points than Stool and tied with Lehkonen. Projected for 37 points in the regular season; meh for a 2nd line center. Mediocre offensive skills might even be a generous title for how inept he is offensively. Of course he's good defensively, but still a poor man's Patrice.

I disagee completely. I wouldn't say he's good, but mediocre is simply ridiculous. he got 45-55 points the 2 previous seasons with no PP time. Eller was mediocre. no vision. but Danault can make a play. I'll give you finishing is not his forte.

Whether he are able to keep him or not is still a question, if we do I hope we get a legit LW that can score on that line
