I disagee completely. I wouldn't say he's good, but mediocre is simply ridiculous. he got 45-55 points the 2 previous seasons with no PP time. Eller was mediocre. no vision. but Danault can make a play. I'll give you finishing is not his forte. - fidopro
He was getting first line minutes and playing with Tatar and Gallgher, that helps alot with putting up points. Eller was hot garbage offensively, not even close to mediocre. When I say he's mediocre, I mean relative to the average 2nd line center. Anyway, he still has lots of value to the team, I just don't think he should be getting paid over 6 million.

oh I agree, 6M is the upper limit of the range imo

caliss que j'ai hâte qu'y soit signé pi qu'on en parle pu
then again people will most likely complain that he's too expensive, no matter what the number he gets, so I guess we'll never actually stop talking about it loll
I wouldn't necessarily bet on it but MB could potentially throw tons of money at him, and we all know that money talks... - Pat1993
We're losing lots of players, but I don't think it's all doom and gloom given how valuable cap space is right now, and it looks like we're going to get a decent bit of it. If we can convince Hamilton to play here, I consider him a complete upgrade over Weber and better than Petry too. He's played in Boston, Carolina, and Calgary. I'm not sure what kind of hockey market he's looking for, but he hasn't played in one as passionate about hockey as Montreal.

unless Habs trade for a legit #1C they badly need Danault. whatever the cost.(well, under 6M). kk is simply not ready.

yeah and they already have serious issues to address on the backend, signing him would simplify things a bit. but as you say, if MB does pull off a trade for a decent #1C then of course he can let Phil walk away

all 3 kids at center (Suzuki, kk, Evans) will hit their prime in a few years. bad timing to sign Danault for 5 or 6 years for big money, but if they want to compete again next season, they don't really have choice.
and there's always a big IF regarding kk. will he become a legit top6 center?

I think he will, might take a bit more time but he'll get there, he definitely has the skills, and he seems to have the proper mindset as well.
