Evans is on my protection list....but he's a great depth guy and can play up and down the linep...so I love his game...he also has health concerns...but......he isn't a replacement for Danault...no way...not yet anyway...Danault is a potential Selke winner...shutdown C and you have to pay for that in the playoffs especially....and yes Poehling is a wild card...but we don't know yet what kind of wild card he is...or if he'll develop further.

I think we can all agree Danault is a great shutdown center, but his offensive skills are a mediocre at best. He's no where near Patrice offensively. Holy (frank) I was so unimpressed everytime he had a good scoring chance these playoffs. Are we willing to pay 6.5-7 million (I'm guessing that's what he wants) for a 3rd line center? I'm more than happy to pay him 6 years for 5 and may even reluctantly pay him 6 for 6, but any higher seems like too much imo.

Habs had a good top 4 on 2 and a few players that can PK.

You are in the same boat as Craig Button. Until KK proves he can produce consistently in the regular season and can play defense Danault is our 2nd line centre at least and I will be willing to pay at most 5.5MM with 6 year term max

I see him more as a good 2nd line center playing a 3rd line role. I think if he goes he's sorely going to be missed in terms of taking defensive face offs and what not. I'd happily pay him 5.5 million, but I'm not sure we should go higher, given what he brings offensively isn't much. I don't think he's as good as Plekanec was overall.
