3: their defence is balanced and suddenly/inexplicably overpowered
4: they have very good depth up front, even if they pay way too much for it
5: they have a solid transition game, and are also very good at defending the line and pressuring in their own end. Thanks Trotz.

Agree Rexypoo. Let's change the coach first before writing off this roster

So, we learned today:
Vesalainen + Stanley + 2nd = Ryan Ellis
Nikkanen +7th = McCann
The Jets upset me - Rexypoo
This is good then, most Jets fans want to be upset and when they are not will bring up past mistakes, no matter how long ago they happened. Be happy today they are making it easy for you |

Amazing what Lou can do and getting rid of the over rated, over paid Taveras clearly didn’t hurt and only helped.

Analytics teams have been winning the cup. Of all the Stanley Cup champion teams since the red line have been removed, all winners outside of one have been in the top 2 for limiting high danger scoring chances against. |

So it is the big D that makes the difference lol |

Those teams were also huge (all top 10 in league for height and weight those years ) and used size to their advantage
So doesn’t really matter what side of the fence you are on, be it anylitics or size or whatever, you can look at any winning team and find something to point to and say see, this is why they won. |

Probably, Colorado’s small D got killed by Vegas this year in the playoffs and they just traded away their toughest one. Be interested to see how they fix that before next years playoffs. Won’t judge them in regular season when no one hits or plays hard |

The Av's could have used Erik Johnson in their series against the Knights. Not sure if he'll be back next year or not?
Really you need one team for the regular season, and one team for the playoffs, when the action gets more intensive - and the refs swallow their whistles, unless you shoot the puck over the glass.
I don't know, you see the Bolts out there with Jan Rutta and Luke Schenn playing a part on the blue-line and you wonder how they win. Luke 'friggin" Schenn!!! Jan "flippin" Rutta!!! No wonder Vasilevsky won the Conn Smythe! |

Surprised that the Habs didn't protect Price. I know he's like 34, and has had injuries, but when on, he's still one of three best goalies in the world IMO. In no particular order - Hellebuyck, Vasilevsky and Price - with Varlamov close behind.
Quite a gamble. If the Krakens select Price, do the Habs make playoffs next season? The $11 million bonus due Price in Sept. may save them. |

As expected, DeMelo and Appleton left unprotected by the Jets. |

Chevy made the right choices to protect. Maybe we get lucky and Kraken choose Dano. |

On Mars Dano is playing top 6 minutes
This isn’t rocket science, Jets can still control DeMelo if they are willing and they think this secret Norris trophy candidate is worth it.
I like DeMelo a lot. Jets should really try to pry a D-Man out of Seattle, overpay so that you protect DeMelo at the same time and add someone that can help. |

NHL GMs did a much better job protecting D men and goalies this time it would appear.
LV exempt is a little interesting, they seem like a viable franchise.
Side deals could make this a little more exciting |

If we want a bigger defence, we can’t keep Morrissey, Pionk, DeMelo, and Heinola. If we lose DeMelo, so be it. |

Even with Price, they don’t make the playoffs, especially in the Atlantic division. I think the Habs are smart to rid themselves of Price’s contract. Too bad the Jets could not do the same and expose Wheeler. It would have been the ultimate team thing to do. |

Most important aspect of the whole situation is that if Demelo is taken, it clears another 3 million in cap space. With Stastny and Perreault also off the books, the Jets have a legitimate shot at signing Hamilton and outbidding anyone for him. |

Not impossible that MTL trades for Price at a reduced salary…..would be shocking but it’s within the rules apparently |

But is it within the rules? Was reading some place where it said, didn't think this could happen without NHL approval - and doubted that would happen. Don't know!
