I can see the logic for Bergy. Kraken would not be able to trade Carey without his consent. They would not be able to buy out his contract for 2 years. They were already rumored to be "far" in discussions with Driedger for a contract, so maybe Bergy knows its a done deal (would be funny if Driedger had the same agent as Aho, and that agent told him the scoop to thank him for the contract... that is just fanyasy). So, is the Kraken really interested in investing 10,5 for Carey and let's say 5.5 for Driedger, not sure. I feel it could really be a Bergy decision, it's a risk, but maybe more calculated than you seem to imply.

actually, i looked on google and they have the same agent

I'd take Carey at 10.5 as an expansion team coming off a SCF before I'd sign a ? like Driedger for 5.5 million

Price is going to be a solid goalie for at least 4 more years. Lots of buzz for an expansion team can't be discounted. Fleury carried Vegas their inaugural season and the fans still love him for it

Your premise is that Price asked to be moved, so he just shrugs and plays the next 6 in Montreal?

Both things can't be true

If Price wanted out, and this is the only way Bergy could do it - You got a big problem if Seattle doesn't take him, because that drama and questioning won't end for a while and will be a massive distraction

If Bergy is being clever and thinks Seattle won't take him, and they do, he's gonna have massive egg on his face

- TheGame316

IF Carey wants out and SEA don't pick him, MB will trade him. seems pretty clear.
if MB is being clever and asked Price to lift his NMC, while wanting to keep him in Mtl... yeah. huge balls. that would also mean Carey wants out btw. that is his decision to lift the NMC.

Yeah, if you are Seattle and can pick between Byron, Kulak, Fleury or Price.....

unless Drouin wants to play there and even then

Fleury has been a star for Vegas

Price is better.

ouch. avec pas d'espoir... unless of course MB somehow makes a few miracles happen and manages to grab elite players to replace them.
- Pat1993

I think the Habs are in a place where they load up and go for broke or go in the direction of Carolina, build a good solid young team.

Weber injury, some cap space, and Price out there for the taking.

I wonder if MB felt he could acquire an impact player or two to help put the Habs over the top, that leaving Price out to be picked would be very different.

Price has played one good 20 game streak in the past 5 years. If Francis takes him he’s dumber than I even thought.

If Price released his NMC. It means he accept to go to Seattle which should open Francis eyes. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if something was up between both team. There might be a player traded to MTL after freeze if Price is gone.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if Habs were on Eichel as well

I don't think it's impossible Bergevin and Price agreed it's unlikely Francis takes his contract and they want to keep Allen. I mean it's only logical. Taking Price's contract is a monumental risk. He had a fantastic playoffs, but can he attain the same result without rest before the playoffs and after an 82 game season and another year older? I think if Allen is off the table, the most sensible gamble is Drouin imo.

I have a hard time believing this is all just to keep Allen.

imo, you don't take that kind of gamble with your star player. overpaid or not. I believe Carey asked for it. hope we'll know the full story sooner than later.

I don't see either possibility as bad for either party. If the "gamble" works out, Francis got (frank)ed over which is comical and we keep both 1a and 1b goalies. If not, Montreal has TONS of cap space at a time when it's at an absolute premium and Price gets to go closer to home and near his wife's family as well.

Is it a 20 game or 30 game streak ? 25 ?
