There also comes a point where you need the low cost players also. They cant just take every "best" player with a high cost. Especially if they decide to take Price, Duchene, Tarasenko cause thats a quarter of their cap gone.

Ya if Gauthier was protected I’d say there’s a chance they take ADA over Rooney/Blackwell. With that said I doubt they pass on Gauthier for ADA.

If u were building a franchise you’d want Blackwell over Gauthier? I think the biggest factor regardless of what we think is Francis drafted Gauthier 21st overall and was gone by the time CAR traded him. He obviously saw something in the kid to draft him 21st overall.

I don’t think it makes sense for them to take Blackwell when he’s kind of a dime a dozen winger who’s a UFA after one season.

You never know though.
