Tanev is more replaceable than Carter for the Pens. Tanev's style is fun to watch but sets him up for injury too much. If they had a side deal with Seattle, they should have left Matheson open to get rid of that contract. Biggest surprise is definitely Price. Maybe Jordan Eberle for the Islanders would be a bit of a surprise (to me at least). If Seattle takes Eberle, Pens fans will rejoice! |

Tarasenko has barely played the past 2 years. Give me a proven winner like Gourde who's under contract for a few years. - gergeswillems
Still. No one else is anything close to Tarasenko's level.
Got to take some gambles. |

I would suggest a contest to see who drafts the closest team to Seattle. Point system is easy kids. 5 points if you get the right player. 4 if you get the right position. 1.5 points if you spell the name right. Winner gets a Tanev hockey card. I'll decide if it's Chris or Brandon. This first team probably isn't the winner.

I think Andrei Svechnikov should be captain. I want a Jason Voorhees goalie mask if I win. Hi kids.

One of the many reasons why that team wouldn't be the winner. If enough people want a mask for a prize I can do that. |

Yikes you're crazy
You realize Kyllington has no NHL value, he cleared waivers & 30 teams passed on him. Gio is the most valuable piece & after him they may just go sign Derek Ryan to a cheaper deal & take him. Sounds like they have already have a deal with Driedger, so I would think they target a few younger guys. |

Does the same rule apply that they just have to be cap compliant by a certain date if they are over when they pick? |

My guess is if they take VT they will flip him for draft picks and/or prospects which of course Armstrong could do as well. It just depends how much market cap they want to spend on a lame winger.

Why would Seattle take Rubtsov from Philly? Is it because you saw he was a former 1st round pick or was it the fact that he is a borderline AHL player?
I guess this could be the pick if Francis didn't follow much hockey other than 1 team. |

I wouldn't be shocked if Seattle took Jarnkrok, but Sissons is probably more valuable right now. Decent Bottom six forward signed long term with a reasonable cap hit. He's the type of guy who seems tailor made for a new expansion team. Most of us had Sissons penciled in as one of the forwards to protect... Poiles entire protection list seems tailored to tempt Seattle into taking Sissons though, for some reason. |

They are not gambling on both Drouin AND Tarasenko. No one knows if Drouin will even be playing next year.

I know. That one really threw me for a loop.
Rubtsov.
If that guy is playing in North America in 2 years, I’ll be stunned. I don’t mean the NHL. I mean the whole continent. AHL wasn’t working well for him as it is, and he’s Russian.
Maybe he just picked it out of a hat? Seems like a lot of work for no payoff, tho. |

It would make more sense just to forfeit the selection then by having one less contract slot used instead of picking a cheap garbage player of zero value.
Every pick Seattle makes is an asset, not an actual roster player. So a lot of the players selected won't even see a second in Seattle and I don't think a lot of people understand that.
