meh, I didn't find anything particularly wrong with what he said, just felt like he was being honest about it instead of relying on a bunch of BS clichés.
also, at this point we have no clue what kind of conversations he might have already had with Bergevin. - Pat1993
He went out of his way post playoffs to say that he saw how important is was to have a deep centre line... I think he’s fine with his role but at the same time, he knows this is his one chance to cash in and you can’t blame a guy for wanting to do that. |

Eichel!!! - habs88888
Will Eichel even play or will he want the surgery the Sabres don’t want him to have? Think we’ve got enough of a queue for the operating theatre lol |

Wouldn’t be terrible I guess but Bergevin is going hard line on this one it loos like. The house on sale doesn’t mean that much...Bergevin put his condo up the week everyone was saying he was getting fired, turned out he only wanted a house. Whether Phil cashes in in Mtl or elsewhere, it’s not impossible that he wants a new bigger house, I mean he has to spend those big bags of money somehow... I just hope the relationship between player and team isn’t busted... like if he becomes a UFA and sees on the market that the money is just not there, he’ll be able to fall back on the Habs’ offer. If he’s gone, the middle will be insanely young...so I think MB will make a splash to fix that. I don’t know how, but he will have to. - Karine Hains
oh for sure, in that case status quo just wouldn't be an option. the "glass half full" part of me is thinking MB wouldn't be taking all these huge risks/gambles in the same year, and that he's got some sort of arrangement going on, but I guess we'll have to wait until frickin' Wednesday to know, and read tons of rumors about it until then lol

I respect honesty, but it came across as him whining imo. If he feels he can bring the offense, he should shut up and show it. He certainly gets no shortage of minutes to do so. |

agreed, although I kinda doubt what he could potentially get elsewhere and what Bergevin is offering him would be worlds apart.

I didn't really see it as whining, as he was answering questions from journalists and didn't bring this up out of the blue, but I do get what you're saying. and he'd be getting quite a lot of money if he added a more interesting offensive production to what he already accomplishes defensively. |

pretty much, yeah, it's one thing to play hardball and think about the cap but letting him walk for 500K would be silly.

Anyway all points to him getting a far better deal somewhere else, c'est la vie.

indeed. I don't see teams dishing out tons more money than the habs, especially with a flat cap, but I wouldn't blame him for thinking about his own personal situation and opting for a huge contract if he does get one elsewhere.

I have a hard time believing they're only 500 k apart. I really think a deal would be done in that case. Or maybe it is already in the form of a gentleman's agreement and Bergevin is using that for another protection spot. |

I seriously have no clue what kind of team the Habs will have by the end of the week. Could go from 1 or 2 blockbuster trades that will fix the big holes from a clear and assumed rebuild. |

Danault is like all other players - he has an agent to brainwash him to get the most term and money possible for lOnG-tErM sEcUrIty because hey cumulating 20-25 millions is risky, aim for 30-35. |

@PierreVLeBrun
As @frank_seravalli (banana eater) reported, I also believe Price will have his hip checked out. But the potential surgery I’m told is knee-related.

Price has an 11 mil bonus in September. Pay that out, put him on LTIR and I think a buy out would be cheaper before next year. Can retire and get paid |

TOR and WPG were generally a good time as well (particularly beating the laffs ...)
but yeah, all these rumors about Weber, Price and Danault combined are quite a poopty contrast.
