even if they don't lose price to Seattle, if he needs new hip and knee I think they rebuild
- mr.peanut

You won't need a lot for a rebuild since a lot of the big pieces are coming along just fine. I do see Bergevin trying to get a Bellemare if Danault leaves and try to trade KK for an instant offensive improvement on 2C

the only problem is, Bellemare is French (from France), not a Quebecer.

Price has an 11 mil bonus in September. Pay that out, put him on LTIR and I think a buy out would be cheaper before next year. Can retire and get paid.

Nope. Will still cost a lot you idiot

pretty much, yeah, it's one thing to play hardball and think about the cap but letting him walk for 500K would be silly.
- Pat1993

Would be silly for Danault unless he ends up on a contender that will give him top 6 minutes (extremely unlikely scenario). I remember when Kovalev left Montreal to sign in Ottawa for 500k more than what Gainey offered him. He came to instantly regret his decision, partly because Kovy was treated as a demi-god here despite his inconsistent effort at times. Danault should be very careful thinking the grass might be greener somewhere else just because some GM might be more inclined to give him a little bit more money.

damn, I don't recall it being such a small difference between both offers... in that case everyone was kinda dumb in the process, Kovalev for leaving to make an extra amount of money that is ridiculously small compared to his total career earnings (and to go to Ottawa, of all places lol), and Gainey for being a cheap bastard towards an obviously very talented player while his team barely had anything else interesting going on.

in the end, the protests at the Bell center were sadly not enough to keep him in MTL.

Honest question. Right now, Danault in UFA, right? But is also on our uncovered list. What if he's gets picked, then he declines to sign with Seattle? Then what?

He hits the market as a UFA with all the other UFA's and Seattle gets nothing

no, Danault can hit the market or sign with the habs, but the kraken gets to pick another unprotected player from MTL.

Seriously?

He thought he was clever and could keep Allen because Seattle would never take on Price and his contract

Then word gets out that Seattle is thinking about it and all of a sudden it's "Hips, no knees, No, Hips, ya Hip injury - could be out for a long time"

That isn't transparent to you?

- TheGame316

ahhh...the conspiracy. If Price is all kinds of (frank)ed up why wouldn't Bergevin want to see him go?

If Rumors are true and Weber/Price start on the LTIR, Habs are going to have A LOT of money in the bank. Signing another goalie for 1 season and keep all the money left for a good D (Hamilton please).
Resign Lek, Perry, Armia & KK to honest contract.
I think Bergevin will have another solid summer but we will see.

Hamilton is a pipe dream, but I'm sure Bergevin can find somebody out there.

If Price is ready mid season, then just go with Allen and Primeau. Might be what they should do either way.

Losing Danault for nothing could be a bigger problem, but he's not gone yet.

He’d be the perfect replacement though. Finally another puck moving defenseman. I’m not sure who could fill that hole beside Seth Jones. Else there might be a trade or something like that but unless a surprise it won’t be a effective.
The summer will be long, hopefully Bergevin is healthy and ready for it

Petry can play on the top pair. They don't need Jones or Hamilton as much as you think.

Don't be suprised if a guy like Josh Manson ends up in here. Maybe Barrie. That I could see.

He produces like A LOT. Put him with a stay at home.

Otherwise, I don't want to see you female doging when they will get Savard.

He produced a lot of second assists on the pp with MacKinnon and Rantanen. He produced a lot of second assists on the pp with McDavid and Draisaitl. Both those teams let him go. Toronto did too. Don't buy the hype of numbers that he isn't the driver of
