Funny to see Hajek protected as so many of us were thinking he would be left exposed and selected. I guess we didnt have much options at D to protect with Hajek having the most (of not much) value of the bunch.

Bitetto was the only other option, as they weren't protecting ADA. Why we all thought a trade might have happened before the deadline.

I can’t wait till trade feeeze opens up. We could see crazy trades in the 48 hours leading up to the draft

Rangers kicking tires on Horvat has me VERY intrigued what Drury is up to.

I would definitely like to get Horvat. If it is true at least we know Drury is targeting a center.

When youre building a franchise, it doesnt hurt to start with one of the world's best goalies. They'd be silly not to take him IMO.

I think the biggest hurdle for them is that he is due an 11 million signing bonus in September that they would have to pay the whole thing on

I am somewhat disappointed to see Gauthier left unprotected. I fully expect him to be taken by Seattle.

However it makes sense when you think about what Drury stated in his press conference. He wanted a team where the players had very defined roles. Rooney has a clear role on this team as a penalty killer ( especially with Howden gone ) and as a 4th line player.

Perhaps this is the reason Rooney is being protected...

After realignment theyll end up in a weak Pacific division thats almost a lock for them to make the playoffs. Aside from the 8.8b that the combined owners have, to which 11m is practically nothing, theyll make all that money back in the playoffs.

With the acquisition of Goodrow, who will likely play a role all over the line up, it pushes Gauthier further down the depth chart.

Rough look at what SEA could look like. Obviously guys will have their own views but if I were SEA this is probably how I would do it. I know they likely WONT pick ADA but given the lack of options on D, esp RHD, I think it’s a consideration they’ll have. Not sure if they HAVE to select more than 1 goalie? If not I’d probably go with just Dreidger and look to trade for one or sign a guy like Halak. Left a few teams off bc I couldn’t pick who I’d want, mostly bc they were all not great options from some teams.

Did you do the overall salary cap on this? I’m not saying I did. But I see some hefty salaries there

Can’t afford a 10.5 cap hit on a goalie

I didn’t but I thought about it, there’s guys you could take out like JVR and swap with someone with less of a hit if the cap was to high.

When its one of the best goalies in the world, you can.

Just ask EDM how it feels to have the most potent offense and no goalie.

Just did it, it’s over haha. Leave off JVR and take a guy like Tierney (redundant with Kerfoot) and 1 or 2 other small ones and it fits.

Even if they went over they could flip some of those guys like Tierney Kerfoot AA etc for some picks.
