Well what Bloated said I am on the opposite side . I as a fan wonder how some think that Canuck problems are unique. I see GMs who are viewed as top GMs buying out players and affecting cap 14 mil per season , or using draft pick to move bad contracts , bad drafting, moving top players out for nothing .
I seen people in here actually complain that Benning didn't trade Sutter after he came off Covid but don't say a word about losing Landeskog or Price for nothing.
We are on pace as a team should be IMO . I am fine with where the team is and where it will be. - VANTEL

I mean why not compare a team in the cup finals vs a bottom 5 team. Even then, I guess the Habs were lucky. Then there's Landeskog. I guess they should have dealt him at the deadline seeing as how they were the best team in the league.
You'd probably see more angst on their respective team blogs, I know you do on the Habs blog. It's not like Bergevin or even Sakic have escaped criticism for their entire tenures. I do find all the AVs criticism funny though because even without Landeskog they still have one hell of a team and they haven't even lost him yet. |

Why would a fanbase of a team really give a s hit about what other teams are doing with free agents or expansion exposures.
It might make for some off-season discussion, but it sure doesn't affect the team(s) I cheer for.

Most GM's are cleaning up the mess that was caused by the previous GM
Can you imagine what would happen if a new GM was hired for Vancouver and a fresh set of eyes and a real gameplan was bestowed upon the Canucks?

JB has had a lot of leash. That’s a no doubter. Lots of cap next season & crucial he get’s it right. In the meantime this coming season is a set up & building for next season. Get some pieces now & ice a roster that competes for the PO’s. PP & PK key priorities. |

I don’t get Canuck fans who look at teams like TO or San Jose and say “they are in a world of pain over the next X years” and yet are just fine with the direction of the Canucks. I have a tough time laughing or criticizing other teams when my own team is in such a mess. - bloatedhefty
I don’t get Canuck fans that are depressing downers about a simple sport haha. Fans compare teams, that’s part of being a fan. Would love to be Tampa, they are not that. If JB can keep it in his pants for the next two off seasons, no reason this team can’t have playoff success.

Well I did mention the team I think you cheer for . Bergivin basically is throwing away 25 mil . He put Drouin who he traded Segechev for . He is offering up the second best goalie in the league for no return and he put the teams best Dman on maybe permanent LTIR.

Bergevin is cleaning his own mess . Half of these GMs have been there longer than Benning

As I explained some time ago, I cheer for teams based on my likeness ranking, Montreal is my 7th least liked team, but, they played 3 of 4 teams that I like less than them.
Also, they helped me win 500 bucks.😁

What happens to the players that dont make the roster? Are they still subject to waivers or off limits. - manvanfan
Well I would imagine they have an agreement with an (a few) AHL team(s) for this season to send guys down. But they can also select pending UFA’s, or RFA’s and just simply let them walk if they want. They could choose Sutter from the Canucks and walk away. |

I think if you took 100 random strangers who seen what you posted this year I think 2 % would guess you are a Canuck fan and 98 % would think you are a Habs fan.
Cheer for who you want it is not my business but I bet all the other teams you like have not won the cup either since 2014.

I think the AVs are a good example of the “randomness” of the NHL…Sakic has done a nice job and the AVs have a great team. But they haven’t sniffed a finals yet and Montreal just made an appearance (a lesser team that got hot at the right time).
Now the AVs are either going to lose their Captain or pay a kings ransom. Then they will need to pay Makar and Mac - cap era problems. They are a team that is worth analyzing and comparing.

Well I usually just cheer for Canucks and Bruins, but this season, I decided to broaden my cheering, to include teams i don't even like, because they have players that I really like and I could see how bad the Canucks were going to be, Montreal happened to be one of those team and I realized me cheering for the Habs, really upset some people, so I cheered louder. |

The captain thing is overblown to me. He was drafted in 2011, Nate in 2013. If he wants to be overpaid because of the letter on his jersey then by all means give the letter to someone else.
He's a good player, not a great player. He's barely a PPG player and has likely peaked so I wouldn't give him a huge deal moving forward either. I'd look at maybe a 6 year deal for decent money but that is all. |

Honestly cheer for as many teams as you want . Nothing at all wrong with it but those same teams have many things wrong with them also.
I am pointing out that Canucks problems are not unique. No Canadian team has won the Cup since 97 so the frustration is pretty much league wide except for a few teams.

Agreed, I wouldn’t give him a big deal either but losing him will hurt them…so it comes down to how fast they can replace him (either the similar things he does or a new set of skills that will help the team get over the hump). Timing the window is tough so hopefully JB learns from his mistakes and does not blow the next two off seasons.
