Rubtsov- Geekie- Gauthier

Giordano- DeMelo
Soucy- Dunn
Pettersson- Stecher
Clague- Borgen

Driedger
Vanecek
Subban

*While it's a risk that he wouldn't sign, I'd take him just to mess with the Habs' ongoing negotiations with him and try to sell him on a guaranteed top-6 role in Seattle.

Ok I wanted to try too. I focused less on constructing the ideal roster and a bit more on taking younger players that are still RFA controlled and could be flipped. I assume there will be significant reshuffling after the expansion draft so I see these picks more as useful tradeable assets than set roster pieces. Also I tried to save some cap space. All requirements met, 78.3M/81.5M cap hit with a projected cap hit of 65.7M.

Domi - Henrique - Gourde
Tanev - McCann - Donskoi
Girgensons - Tierney - Sissons
Fischer - Donato - Athanasiou
Benson - Bellows - Gauthier
Lind

Giordano - DeMelo
Gostisbehere - Lauzon
Dunn - Zadorov
Butcher - Stecher

They aren’t taking a bunch of old cap dumps without getting additional assets.

I agree. If teams aren't willing to pony up to make a deal, I can see Francis picking a cost effective roster in the draft, and then extorting the teams that are in a cap crunch afterwards to bring in some higher end players.

Seattle may take quite a number of those players, but you can almost guarantee they will take a couple big names as well.not many gourde or bean or driedger jerseys gonna be sold imo.JVR and Domi and Giordano arent exactly household names.

You’re only allowed 3 goalies.

And I take Palat over Gourde every day. Not sure why everyone has a hard on for Gourde.

Cost certainty on Gourde for the next 4 years. Palat is unrestricted after next season.

From my standpoint, I would take Gourde over Palat just due to position. Hardest spot I had filling out was C. Both would be great pick-ups. I wonder if Francis will make life hard on TB and pick someone like Colton, then try to leverage the others away afterwards.

There is some stability with Gourde yes. But he’s no where near the player that Palat is. Bring him in and let him loose. If he ends up liking it there extend him. If not flip him at the deadline.

Lots of speculation that TBay is going to give a sweetener for Seattle to take the local boy TJ off their hands.

There is no cap on how many goalies they can take, just that they must take a minimum of 3.

This is good thinking imo, but I would add bending TB over and getting them to add something (like Foote or a pick or both) to take Gourde. I know Gourde is good, but TB needs to unload salary. If not Gourde then Killorn or Palat.

Not a Flyer fan, just looking to make the best top 6 I can with what is there. I noted, some arent contracts I would want, but when looking at what is available, and the term, if I was Francis, I am going to take Voracek.

I can just see Philly getting another Dman, and Zadorov making 3 mil plus would be the odd man out in Seattle. Zadorov could be traded anywhere for mid round picks.

- Mentalorgasm5

I am a Flyers fan, and while I have to say that would be great if it happened, it won't with out significant sweeteners added by Philly - which I hope they will not do. I'm hoping they take Ghost or JVR with limited/no sweeteners but that may be a pipe dream.

Gourde isnt that good, definitely not worth his hit. Unfortunately, I think Tampa's real value is the number of NMCs they have. Forces them to leave better players on ELCs, that you are not seeing with other teams. (frank) Tampa, they call sell off their bloated contracts to Buffalo or Detroit lol

I’ve been trying to create a team out of this mess and quite frankly. I don't think RF can afford Price at all if they truly want to be competitive.

Here's my first take

F

Voracek (PHI)- Johansen (NSH) - Tarasenko (STL)
Drouin (MTL) - Gourde (TB) - Niederreiter (CAR)
Domi (CLB) - Toninato (WIN) - Virtanen (VAN)
Fischer (ARI) - Namestnikov (DET) - Donskoi (COL)

Extras - Lemieux (LAK), Nieto (SJ), Bastian (NJD).

D

Giordano (CAL) - De Haan (CHI)
Dermott (TOR) - Deangelo (NYR)
Fleury (ANA) - Miller (BUF)

Extras - Brown (OTT), Lauzon (BOS), Hanley (DAL), Greene (NYI), Klefbom (EDM)

G

Driedger (FLA)
Kahkonen (MIN)

Extras - Vanecek (WSH) and DeSmith (PIT)

I've worked with the parameters given in CapFriendly so just correct me if certain names aren't supposed to be in there. I'm at 91.575Mil in cap space for all players but if you remove Klefbom who's injured for the year and the extras that won't stay with the club. I'm near 81.5Mil. I have no idea as well like for Skinner in BUF if BUF could consider retaining salary for him to be selected by the Kraken.

I haven't done the lines correctly but at least you get the full picture.

So Seattle is just going to take on a full roster of bad contracts and players with attitude issues? This is a horrible roster. The one Seattle takes will be nothing close to this.

The problem with all these Mock rosters is that no one knows what side deals are in effect, or what time line Francis has to but a bonafide contender together.

He could very well but together an expansion team that doesn't have a single player over the age of 27, or he could put together a team that makes the playoffs next year because the pacific division is weak AF.

If he is setting up for the future, he can take a bunch of cheap players and weaponize additional cap space at the draft. He could take Giordano or Tarasenko, eat 50% of their salaries and flip them to real contenders. The options are endless, and without a clear mandate there's no point in even guessing.

Lots of ppl forgetting Foote has been exposed by TBL too.

While Palat and Gourde are available (I'd take Palat over Gourde), I'd eventually take Foote in the end. Well worth it if Seattle wants to invest in a solid defensive core (what I'd strive for).

Landy*-Johansen-Eberle
N. Neiderreider-McCann-Hinostroza
Zucker-Domi-J.Gauthier
Drouin-Phillips-K. Lind
Eakin

Dunn-Larsson
Butcher-Demelo
H.Fleury-Foote or Zboril

Dreiger
Bishop
Kahkonen
Vanacek

*Landy exposed by COL. Pick and sign to 8.5-9m max term. Overpayment, yes (especially term; seems to be the main issue with current negotiations with COL), but if it means landing a stellar piece for the top 6 for the long term, it's well worth it.

Actual lineups and pairings are subject to change based on what would work (chemistry, etc). Maybe see Zucker play RW pushing Hino down while one of Gauthier/Lind play LW if possible (Drouin bumped up to the third line).

Abramov, Lizotte, Rubtsov, Gambrell, Chowlowski, Saarijarvi, and Zboril (or Foote) in the Minors/affiliated leagues.

Cap compliant and meets all expansion draft criteria (according to CapFriendly).

You are WAY OFF BASE, you are going to take 5 goaltenders out of 30 picks? That's 40% of your roster, how many are you planning on putting on the ice at the same time? 2, 3, maybe 4! I think the players you put out there would make Atlanta look like a Stanley Cup Champion their first season in the league and have a empty rink by Thanksgiving. I think you should stay away from sports betting, with in an hour you will lose your house and family!

If you feel 5/30 = 40%, maybe sports betting wouldn't be your thing either. Still, drafting 5 goalies doesn't make much sense unless the expectation is there will be a market to flip 1 or 2, or the assumption is that Bishop isn't ready for a significant period of time. Having a ton of extra D or F doesn't make a pile of sense either, as the Kraken will be running on a shared farm team the first season.
