I’m gonna make you eat these words after Ladd wins the Butterfield while leading Tucson to the 21/22 Calder Cup. - Wildschwein
He'd get wrecked in the A. The only award he'd win is Most Trucked award. |

If Lou could trade Ladd who had no value then I'm sure he can find a way to trade Bailey or Ebs if he wants the cap space. - JimmyP
Here's your teams that aren't even at the cap floor. Obviously some will get there very quickly, but that's where I'd be looking to move one of them.
I really have to think they have a deal in place for Seattle not to take Bailey. I'm just hoping it's not a 1st. Eberle is still a real useful player, maybe sending them Bellows to take Eberle is the move. |

Yes no more #1 picks. I do wonder if Lou has a deal for Seattle not to take Bailey? |

Columbus is a good trading partner since its hard for the franchise to attract players |

I'm not so sure. Lou may want the cap space for other moves.
In any event, here's a mock draft with Seattle picking Bailey.

Just as a curiosity, why do you want Seattle to take Ebs and not Bails?
(I don't have time to pore through the numbers and I know you usually have them, lol) |

Probably for the additional half mill in cap space, in addition to fulfilling a by proxy hatred of all gap toothed males in their early 30’s. |

I like Eberle a lot, but he's pretty one-dimensional. Bailey can play all three forward positions well and be moved around the lineup. He can be a little "meh" during the regular season, but he's a proven playoff performer (.70ppg vs. Eberle's .58ppg). Plus the leadership aspect.
And from a logical standpoint, he's a career-Islander who's 81 games away from playing 1000 games with one team and Trotz has open spoken glowingly about him. I have such a hard time thinking that Lou, who's a pretty god damn loyal guy, is going to toss Bailey to the curb with that major milestone coming up. Also, losing Eberle saves a little more money. |

He'll go right back to the playoffs at the deadline though, I'd imagine. |

im guessing so to. unless they really like him working with Seider and extend him. if he stays here he wont be seeing the playoffs for a while.. |

Agreed. It’d be rather out character for him. |

I think it's a win-win for Yzerman. Either he flips him at recoups, at a minimum, what he paid for him...or Leddy is a good fit to mentor some young guys and wants to stay. Really no downside. His play has slipped a little but he's still a valuable player. |

I mean I'd have to concede that it's entirely possible that Lou just needs to clear the cap space for something and is willing to make a real tough move, but it just doesn't feel like they'd just let him go. |

Is he? I remember one season with the Devils where he fired the coach who got the Devils to the playoffs just as the playoffs were beginning........and took over the coaching duties himself. I forget which coach it was. |

Claude Julien. I don't know if I'd question his loyalty because he fired a coach in his first season and took over the bench. Weird, no doubt...but he was supposedly unhappy with the level of preparedness of the team under Julien heading into the playoffs. |

He hasn't shown much loyalty to his coaches. Maybe he is more loyal to his players? |
