Claude Julien. I don't know if I'd question his loyalty because he fired a coach in his first season and took over the bench. Weird, no doubt...but he was supposedly unhappy with the level of preparedness of the team under Julien heading into the playoffs. - eichiefs9
Pretty sure that was Ftorek but I could be wrong |

He hasn't shown much loyalty to his coaches. Maybe he is more loyal to his players? - JohnScammo
Seems to be real loyal to a lot of his former Devils players |

Thanks for all those Islander years when the team was garbage, all the charity work and thanks for playing well in the playoffs, but when the new, shiny, stadium opens you’ll be in Seattle. Sorry Josh. |

It's a tough business for sure. But Lou wasn't the GM during those garbage years, so that may not have the same meaning to him. |

Huh? The story JS was talking about was firing a coach at the end of the season and Lou taking over the bench himself. That was Julien. Ftorek was replaced with Robinson. |

Losing Bailey will be tougher than Eberle but it's a business. You have to go with the players that you think can get you the Cup. |

You are correct. Isles did bring up another season where Lou showed no loyalty to his coach, however. |

Gotcha thought he was talking about the time Lou fired Ftorek with 8 games left in the seaon and Robinson took over and won the cup that season |

I wasn’t being totally serious.
I hate to say this, and I’d rather Bailey stay (just for my daughter’s sanity, she JUST got over Lehner) but Lou personifies the whole “business is never personal” mantra. Most successful people operate that way. |

OK, gotcha. I do think Lou wants the cap space almost as much as he'd like to keep Bailey. So I don't think he's willing to give up more draft picks to keep him. Just my hunch.... |

Hearing the Canadiens have been actively exploring the forward market, looking to add up front. One player they’ve inquired about is Anthony Beauvillier. |

I like Eberle a lot, but he's pretty one-dimensional. Bailey can play all three forward positions well and be moved around the lineup. He can be a little "meh" during the regular season, but he's a proven playoff performer (.70ppg vs. Eberle's .58ppg). Plus the leadership aspect.
And from a logical standpoint, he's a career-Islander who's 81 games away from playing 1000 games with one team and Trotz has open spoken glowingly about him. I have such a hard time thinking that Lou, who's a pretty god damn loyal guy, is going to toss Bailey to the curb with that major milestone coming up. Also, losing Eberle saves a little more money. - eichiefs9
Alright, fair enough. |

He could have protected Bailey. Then he wouldn't have to worry about making a deal with Seattle. |
