Again, I am pretty certain the principal people involved - Francis, MB and Price - already know how this is going down, regardless of what the media might say or speculate.
- Mashadar

I would agree. Price's agent probably called SEA and told them his client is very interested in playing for the Kraken. after that it was all said and done, and there's nothing MB could have done to change that.

I don’t see a risk here at all.

It’s more of a win/win imo..

Indeed it is, which is what I've been saying also. As much as I'd love to go on another run, I don't see how they manage to replace Weber, get two good LWs, possibly replace Danault, and if they expose him replace Allen too. Also if they're protected Price and he coudn't start the season they'd be (frank)ed anyway. I appreciate what Price has done for the franchise, but I don't mind if he gets picked given how lengthy and expensive his contract is. Francis doesn't have Bergevin under the gun, Francis got greedy so Bergevin gave him the rope to hang himself instead.

Lebrun said Seattle would be reaching out to Bergevin to see if they could get something out of him to NOT take Price. I guess if they call him and he offers nothing then he prolly wants Seattle to take him.
- TurdFergeson

I wouldn't offer anything for that contract either.

It's a big contract to take on but Price is probably worth it. I think another factor would be what else the Habs have to offer. Drouin would be even more of a risk than Price at a decent cap hit and while Kulak or Evans are nice players, not sure they would out value Price. Even though he's UFA, maybe Danault would be an option as well since there don't seem to be a lot of good centres available in the expansion draft and Seattle would be able to provide him with a true top 6 role. Getting him locked up could be worth the pick.

Overall it seems like the Habs will be fine regardless of how it all plays out. Bergevin sure keeps things interesting, in a good way.

I don't call it risky at all. Yes Price is the main chess piece of the team BUT at his age and nagging injuries that are largely treated in a mysterious and often stealth manner for extended periods of time one has to ask the ultimate question, How much is left in his body to give? Not saying he's done by any stretch of the imagination but it does have to be explored.

I would not at all be surprised that the Habs got all of Price's good years and he's a shadow of himself after his surgery. His regular season play was abysmal, he only managed to play his best hockey after an extended rest, and even then he was shaky the first three games against Tampa.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him regain his former shape once in SEA. for the regular season I mean.
the past few years in Mtl he looked disinterested during the regular season. but suddendly playoffs Price reappeares in April?!? the problem was above the shoulders imo.
in SEA, new start, new challenge, new team... he'll be good. wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Could it be that MB and Francis along with Price already discussed this scenario and part of it would include a side deal where SEA select and trade us a goalie we have in mind to play with Allen?

If not, who do you all see us going out to somewhat replace Price with??

this doesn't matter, the important thing is to not have Price on the team. they'll figure something out, maybe a zamboni driver or something.

Ek said this is INSANE.

Now it's the riskiest EVER.

Maybe you want to tone it down. If Montreal missed the playoffs or lost to Toronto in round 1, the article would be about how Price is about to turn 34. His SV% was an awful .901, ranked 42 among elligible goalies (even Jake Allen was better). His contract is one of the worst in the NHL and it would be a blessing if Seattle takes him. But because he gets hot for a playoff run suddenly he's irreplaceable. Try making decisions on facts rather than emotion.

Finally someone who makes sense-- Bergevin wants him gone
