What perplexes me is, you see what other teams had available and Bowman decided to keep his roster the way it is versus making a trade for someone like Gourde. I’m sure Kampf is so much better. |

I bet Bowman and others did not want to help Tampa and wanted picks to go back with any players. Tampa decided it is best to loose a player for nothing vs. having to give up picks in a trade. |

No side deal? Francis is an idiot. He could have signed the guy for free and still taken another player. |

Dude. The offseason hasn't really even started. Any moves up to this point was to protect your roster against whatever the Kraken were going to take. The draft, and FA periods aren't even here.
Just a little patience... yeaaaaaaahhhhhh. |

Obviously a top 6 player JC's system sucks! |

Stan overpays/signs Zadorov. Ugh!
Stan cannot move deHaan. Ugh!
With those two on the roster taking on bad contracts along with other assets is somewhat limited. Sigh! |

What does that say for quality of our roster if SEA couldn't find one unprotected player worth taking?
Maybe they feel they've got what they need at NHL level and want to build up AHL, but yeesh. |

It says that the Kraken are very intelligent about their selections and are going to weaponize cap space. They had no intentions of building their roster strictly from this draft:
https://twitter.com/CapFr...tatus/1417892960667160580
Based on the reports, this is what we expect the #SeaKraken initial roster to look like
The team will have significant cap space out of the gate to take advantage of.
Missing: CHI, DET, NYR
O f the selections, 6 players are currently pending RFAs and 4 are UFAs |

And the Kraken look like they're aiming to do the same thing to the rest of the teams looking for some salary relief.
They choose some okay players at okay salaries to at least ice a decent team on paper.
Ronny Francis will be willing to take a few high priced, bad contracts from teams for a hefty price. |

On a positive note, you could look at it as excellent asset management by Stan Bowman that he essentially had Seattle dumpster diving in the expansion draft. |

Maybe
I just see it as still being stuck with the issues (oft injured, cost > value) that SEA apparently saw.
No worse off than we started, but unable to offload an NHL spot we had hoped to fill with higher value player. |

Really lacking any top-line talent there. Eberle, Gourde and...is your top line?
D is not spectacular but solid. Goalies are suspect due to lack of experience. However they did avoid taking on bad contracts for nothing. B- so far.
