It's my impression that he's a decent 2-way player, too. - JohnScammo
And he'll have a scrap once in a while too. |

That ability could become important to the Isles when Seattle selects Ross Johnston. |

I would take Bailey. Decent top 6 guy to provide a couple years of stability while the roster around him likely gets turned over. |

Whatever happened to Tanner? Did he just flame out? I didn't see his name as a blogger. I know it's been a while since I've been on. |

I believe he was consumed by his own ego. |

You say that, but you don't know what offers are being made by Lou to keep people. I think it was chief earlier who pondered the thought of sending Bellows to the Kraken for them to take Eberle and not Bailey. |

That checks. I don't know who's ego was worse, his or Snowballs. |

I'd love for the isles to land him he was on pace both shortened seasons for 30 plus goals - Upstate_isles
I would love to have the guy but he’s not worth what he’s reportedly looking for imo. |

You love and trust Lou but you want him to trade two top six forwards for nothing that HE SIGNED to deals you obviously view as bad deals just two short years ago?

if they were so worried about Bailey getting taken I don't understand why they left him unprotected. I think all the noise is just that... Lou and crew have to make believe they are trying to keep Bailey but are more than comfortable losing him.. IMO.

Those two "Top 6" forwards were fair price pre covid cap, not anymore. Smarter!

For reasons unknown to us. The GM's make deals that "protect" players left unprotected so other players can be protected. That's why we see these deals after the fact. My guess is that Lou already has a deal in place with Francis. As with other GM's I'm sure. It's all in the gamesmanship of the expansion draft. |

I like how you defend your stupidity. The salary cap hasn’t gone down. Either they’re bad contracts and Lou looks bad or they’re great contracts and Lou is your hero. Cool hot pockets comment tho. Makes total sense |

Well yeah but what’s the plan? If he uses the cap space and improves the roster than it’s a positive, but if you can get a 2nd round pick for Nick Leddy, you can certainly get a 2nd or a 3rd for Ebs and Bails. Why expose them and protect guys like Cal and Martin who Seattle would be doing us a favor by taking. It’s nonsense. And an admission of guilt that you gave out two bad contracts |

I'd prefer tarasenko if he's really healthy as we can use a bona-fide sniper and wally is up and coming too |

Well I don’t know but I believe there is one. Let’s see what happens before we start exclaiming how bad of a job he has done. Cal and Martin don’t have the salary necessary to be impactful on signing any new players besides low impact ones. I’ll also add that trotz and lameriello value both players so why would they dump them? I figured Lameriello signing Martin this past offseason would be the giveaway on that little nugget.
Also, how many contracts are considered “good” over the life of the contract? Not a whole helluva lot. I’ll also add that Bailey and eberle’s contracts really aren’t so terrible relative to their regular season and post season production imo. None of this is nonsense as you say. We have to shed some salary. Welcome to being a fan of a competitive NHL team in the salary cap era. |

I would actually prefer Landeskog but he’s not an 8-10 million per player at the age of 30. I would take a chance on tarasenko. I believe we wouldn’t do it unless Lou was 100% sure he was good to go. |

I hear ya. But if they were concerned about Wahlstrom’s defensive play not sure how they’d feel about Tarasenko. Not that familiar with his game but I’d bet he’s not too defensively responsible. |

St. Louis won a Cup with him, so presumably he's not terrible. But I admit I don't see many St. Louis games. |
